    Total 250 words used.

Since 2023, Ameresco has reached significant milestones in clean energy and decarbonization, advancing its role as a global leader in sustainable innovation. Early in 2024, Ameresco launched the Kūpono Solar Project on O’ahu, Hawaii, a landmark solar and Battery Energy Storage System BESS facility that powers 10,000 homes and cuts over 50,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually, supporting Hawaii’s goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2045.

In California, Ameresco’s Keller Canyon RNG Facility—the state’s largest—sets a benchmark in sustainability by reducing 62,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually, equivalent to removing 30,000 cars from the road. In Utah at Signal Hill, where traditional ground or rooftop solar was not viable, Ameresco developed the state’s first floating solar array, offsetting 92% of the treatment plant’s energy needs and cutting 609 metric tons of CO₂ annually. Both projects set new standards for renewable innovation in diverse landscapes.

Globally, Ameresco partnered on Greece’s Delfini Solar Project, powering thousands of homes and reducing 65,300 tons of CO₂, while in London, Ameresco’s cutting-edge thin-film PV installation at the iconic stadium advances net-zero goals with an innovative solution. These projects reflect Ameresco’s commitment to expanding renewable access and achieving large-scale decarbonization globally.

These projects are only a few examples of Ameresco’s holistic approach to clean energy: addressing local needs, creating economic opportunities, hiring locally, and fostering community engagement. Through sustainable practices and resilience-focused initiatives across regions, from Hawaii to London, Ameresco reinforces its leadership in large-scale decarbonization, energy security, and community-driven solutions.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):

    Total 246 words used.

Ameresco’s recent achievements distinguish it from competitors through a unique combination of technical innovation, community engagement, and large-scale impact. The Kūpono Solar Project and Keller Canyon RNG showcase Ameresco’s early adoption of critical technologies like BESS and RNG, which are not yet widely used at comparable scales by competitors. The Kūpono project, with its solar and BESS integration, is the largest of its kind in Hawaii, offering continuous energy support even after sunset—a significant advantage over traditional solar projects that struggle with energy storage. The Keller Canyon facility, with a 3.8 MW power capacity, converts landfill gas into pipeline-grade RNG, demonstrating Ameresco’s advanced approach to waste-to-energy technology.

Compared to others in the industry, Ameresco stands out for its “existing, but not disrupting” approach, a philosophy woven into each project with remarkable attention to biodiversity and local ecology. The Kūpono Solar Project in Hawaii is a vivid example of this. Ameresco goes beyond traditional energy production to foster natural harmony, allowing 200 sheep to graze the project site for sustainable land management and relocating over 500,000 bees to support local pollination.

Ameresco’s approach not only mitigates emissions but also conserves local ecosystems, a commitment rarely seen at scale in the cleantech industry. This unique strategy—hiring locally, respecting cultural and ecological sites, and promoting biodiversity—redefines sustainable development, showing that large-scale clean energy can coexist with, and even enhance the natural landscape. Ameresco’s focus on biodiversity makes them a cleantech leader, raising the bar for sustainable innovation.
