airSlate was founded in 2008 with the goal of solving a simple problem that originally had nothing to do with workflows: how to create fillable and editable forms and documents from PDF files. Today, the product that came from that original effort - pdfFiller - is used by millions of people around the globe. Since then, airSlate has expanded its solutions and no-code workflow automation to empower non-technical users to digitally transform their front and back-office business processes, such as employee and customer onboarding, sales and ordering workflows, contracts and payments.

In 2019, the number of users of airSlate’s e-signature, document management and workflow automation tools surged by 68% year-over-year to 23MM users. In 2020, buoyed by the start of the pandemic and an increasingly global, remote-first work environment, those numbers climbed 85% year-over-year to 43MM users. In January/February of 2021 alone, those numbers have already grown by 99% year-over-year to more than 87MM users.
In 2020, the company launched its newest product - airSlate - to expand its portfolio, offering an end-to-end workflow ecosystem for customers. The solution gives teams the power to build and automate any part of their workflows using a single, no-code, easy-to-configure solution. In addition, airSlate announced several major integrations, including with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft, to name a few.
airSlate announced two substantial rounds of financing in 2021, including $40MM from Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital and General Catalyst, and $50MM in debt financing from Silicon Valley Bank.
With the rapid growth of its user base and product portfolio, airSlate expanded its global team from 732 employees and full-time contractors in 2019, to 825 in 2021.
What’s particularly unique about airSlate is that its January financing announcement with Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital and General Catalyst was the first public announcement in the company’s 13-year history. Despite essentially being in stealth all this time, the company has an impressive investment history and has seen incredible growth to its user base, as well as market-leading product launches, integrations and a quickly expanding, passionate workforce.
In fact, airSlate has seen a growth rate of more than 50% year-over-year in both 2019 and 2020, and is expected to reach $100MM ARR by the end of 2021.
