The Veterans Health Administration Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning (VHA OHIL) State of Innovation Report features the achievements and programs that drive Veteran healthcare forward. Given the breadth of healthcare innovation, the report aimed to segment complex healthcare content into easy-to-understand content and highlight human-centric stories that resonate with the Veteran community and showcase VA frontline employee achievements.
WBD conceptualized the theme of “Reimagining Veteran Healthcare" using a design structure that divided the report into five key innovation areas: Human-Centered Design, Collaboration, Learning, Technology, and Care and Payment Models. A consistent layout structure helps to unify each section, highlighting specific projects and programs with infographics, supplied imagery and quotes highlighted with interesting typography. In contrast, section openers create a visual resting space with full-spread conceptual imagery and unique type treatments. Our managers and writers then partnered with frontline employees, Veterans, and executive leaders to develop stories around emerging healthcare innovations for each section. These articles broke down complex healthcare topics, such as payment models and social determinents, in simple terms and stories.
In conjunction with VA, our team widely distributed the report at the national VHA Innovation Experience (iEX) Conference, social media channels, national email campaigns, and VA websites.
