In 2021, adapting to pandemic uncertainties, TraceGains embraced a new normal of "virtualizing" their annual customer conference as an alternative to a live event. It got the job done. But attendance was disappointing, and peer-to-peer interaction, the event's hallmark, was lackluster, forced, and inconsequential. Abandoning a successful in-person conference in favor of an online experience required rethinking the audience experience.
To increase interest and registrations, TraceGains embraced a new approach, scripting, then aggressively marketing, an opening keynote video to grab the audience's imagination immediately. The video spoke to bold strokes and an adventurous spirit, which supported a new branding and provocative new point of view about their industry and the future ahead. The message challenged the status quo while confronting the changing landscape of supply chain work, including the concept of disconnected remote working.
With a veteran Hollywood film crew in tow, TraceGains' CEO risked an excursion to an inclement Northeast location to illustrate supply chain disruptions and how to address them, including the northern lobster migrations (yes, it's a thing). As the weather broke, the TraceGains team captured a keynote that attracted a record number of attendees to a rebranded "Together" conference, their most successful and engaging to date.
