The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is known for creating impeccable experiences. For the redesign of their global website, the Carbone Smolan Agency sought to translate this brand's signature attention to detail and quality of service to the web. The image-driven site is a gallery of the hotel group’s coveted properties and features “visual browsing," that allows visitors to sort and compare content--such as room types and dining options--through imagery. The site was designed for “guest-centric usability," with universal navigation, a limited number of page types, and a stylish aesthetic applied across platforms. In the six months since the new site launched, visitors are spending more time on the site, and bookings and revenue have increased by 12% and 15%, respectively.
