Nomination Title: Griselda Hernandez, General Manager, UPS Mexico

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated executive during the eligibility period (up to 500 words):

In 1989, UPS established its first operations in Mexico, and has since continued
to invest in its operations, service portfolio and infrastructure to capitalize
on the potential of the market. Today, Mexico represents a key market for UPS in Latin
America, and UPS is committed to the continued expansion of its network to
better serve customers throughout the country and connect them to the global
market. Since 2006, this expansion plan has been helmed by Griselda Hernandez,
UPS Mexico Country Manager, where she has overseen the development of UPS’s
network in the country.

After joining the company in 1991, Griselda advanced in her career granting her
exposure to various areas within UPS including operations, UPS’s core function,
customer service and sales. Griselda’s 16 years of dedicated service and her
various assignments across the key functions within the company provided her
with the fundamental skills of a market leader, resulting in her appointment as
General Manager of UPS Mexico.

Upon assuming this role, Griselda implemented a strategy for growth in the
country that focused on three key areas: expansion of service coverage in Mexico;
business consolidation; and the development of employees within the company.
After several years of planning and implementation the results became obvious.
Within the first six months of 2009, UPS Mexico celebrated several milestones
including:

- The opening of 6 new facilities bringing its total operations network to over 300
facilities throughout the country
- A positive growth performance for the first half of the year resulting a
year-over-
year growth of 50%
- The launch of two key services for exporters in the country which are UPS
Ground Freight, for ground services to the U.S. and Canada, and UPS Standard, a
cost-effective small package ground service to the U.S.

In addition to growing the business for UPS in Mexico, programs for the
development of the small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) have also been
launched under Griselda’s management. One such program was an award contest
in 2008 for SMEs, given their importance to the local market, called the UPS
Entrepreneurial Sprit Award. To establish this program, Griselda developed a
strategic partnership with the Ministry of Economy, an institution responsible for
implementing initiatives for SMEs, and recognized three winners based on the
creativity and relevance of their product or service.

Griselda has also focused on employee development, the creation of employment
opportunities, and the promotion of gender equality in executive positions. In
addition to employing over 600 people in Mexico in the past three years, Griselda
has given several lectures for the Equality and Gender Commission of Mexico on
topics including “opportunities for women in management.” During this time
Griselda has continued to be recognized as a distinguished business leader in
Mexico. One recent recognition was her selection as the Most Influential Woman
in the Country for two consecutive years (2008-2009) in a ranking by Expansion
magazine, a leading publication for the business sector, which demonstrates that
she is a solid candidate for the Best Latin American Executive Stevie Award.
