    Total 176 words used.

Ms. Miller is a highly accomplished senior executive with 30 years of global leadership experience in transportation, logistics, and operations. She joined Stericycle in 2018 as president and COO, after a successful career at UPS where she worked her way up from a delivery driver to the president of the European region, a $7 billion business unit. Since her appointment as the first female president and CEO of a publicly traded waste company in May 2019, Ms. Miller has centralized processes, standardized procedures, and leveraged synergies, to modernize operations while driving operational efficiencies and organic revenue growth. Ms. Miller has reduced Stericycle’s net debt over $1 billion and divested sixteen businesses in approximately four years. Ms. Miller used her deep expertise in supply chain management to drive accountability and re-aligned the organizational culture around safety, service and growth.

Focused on unlocking growth by continuing to invest in physical and digital infrastructure and adapting to market needs, Ms. Miller’s leadership and guidance has led the organization through an unprecedented pandemic, societal challenges, and a looming economic downturn.

  4. Outline the nominee's achievements since July 1 2021 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

During these last few unprecedented years, Ms. Miller led Stericycle through a massive business transformation, in an effort to realign and operationalize the business. In 2020, Stericycle began a tremendous enterprise resource planning (ERP) modernization that formally launched for the North American finance and procurement functions in August 2021; it also launched a pilot program in Puerto Rico in 2022. This has been a necessary upgrade given that the company is comprised of over 400 acquisitions. Today, 5,000+ team members are using the new ERP across 8 key business processes.

Ms. Miller also spearheaded numerous physical infrastructure and modernization efforts to enhance operations and sustainability efforts. Over the past two years, Stericycle opened four new greenfield autoclaves — two in North America and two in the United Kingdom. Stericycle is also currently constructing a new, flagship hospital, medical and infectious waste incinerator (HMIWI) in Nevada, to meet the demands of the healthcare community in the Western U.S.

Ms. Miller also leveraged innovation to drive meaningful change for the company and its customers by making significant investments in an award-winning container portfolio, including:

    • Launching SafeShield™ Medical Waste Containers, a new line designed to improve existing healthcare waste streams. This launch streamlined Stericycle’s line of 150+ containers to less than 20.
    • Offering MedDrop™ medication collection kiosks, providing a convenient way for consumers to dispose of unneeded medication while the public grapples with the ongoing opioid crisis and the impact of improperly disposed pharmaceuticals on the environment.

As CEO of Stericycle, Ms. Miller leads the world’s largest regulated medical waste management provider, an essential service that ensures hospital waste streams move efficiently, compliantly, and safely. She and her team must orchestrate this crucial task by working in tandem with healthcare partners and regulatory agencies across the globe.

Ms. Miller’s remarkable leadership has not gone unrecognized. She spent most of her professional career in male-dominated industries and understands the importance of equitable work environments. To encourage female representation in leadership and foster professional development, in 2021, Ms. Miller established Stericycle’s inaugural virtual International Women’s Summit. In 2022, Stericycle increased the percentage of women in senior and middle management roles globally to 30% and 33%, respectively, and 65% of all U.S. based new hires were racially or ethnically diverse. Additionally, 30% percent of Stericycle's corporate board is comprised of female directors, exceeding the national average for female-held board seats, and Stericycle was recognized for its gender-balanced board by 50/50 Women on Boards™.  In June 2021, Ms. Miller was named to the inaugural Forbes 50 Over 50 list, which recognized her impact in shattering age and gender norms. Ms. Miller’s impact also drove Stericycle’s recognition for two consecutive years as a “2022 Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation” by the Women In Trucking Association. She also received a Gold Stevie® Award in the Female Executive of the Year Business Services category in 2021.
