The fifth annual Asian-American Unity Dinner, which rewarded Laura J. Sen with the 2011 Massachusetts Asian American Leadership Award, was held at Hei La Moon Restaurant in Chinatown on May 12.

In September 2011, for the 6th consecutive year, BJ's Wholesale Club partnered with 13 of the country's leading cancer centers to hold "Pink Picnics" events. At each picnic, a physician discussed the extraordinary work in battling the disease, happening at his or her cancer center.

Ms. Sen served as co-chair of the 2010 Silver Road Gala held by the Asian Task force Against Domestic Violence.

The company is ranked #232 on Fortune magazine's 2010 listing of America's 500 largest public corporations.

BJ’s Charitable Foundation announced in December 2010 that it has exceeded $10 million in charitable contributions after its recent donation of $530,379 to 71 nonprofits located in the communities BJ’s serves. The nonprofit recipients align with the Foundation’s focus of providing services in the form of hunger prevention, self-sufficiency, health care, or education to those in need. “Giving back has always been at the very core of BJ’s culture, and reaching this $10 million giving milestone in just five years though our Foundation is a true reflection of the company’s emphasis on this principal value,” said Jessica Newman, manager of community relations for BJ’s Wholesale Club. ”

Laura J. Sen has been Chief Executive Officer of BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. since February 1, 2009 but has been running the company as President since January 15, 2008, being responsible for all day-to-day operations. Ms. Sen has nearly 30 years of experience in mass retailing, including Zayre and Jordan Marsh. Ms. Sen served as COO, EVP , SVP and VP of Merchandising and logistics in her career at BJ’s.

She played key roles in growing BJ's from an early stage business to a Fortune 500 company. She has been a Director of BJ's, Abington Bancorp. She supports Women's Inn at Pine Street, Neely House and the Cardinal Cushing Center. She is a graduate of Boston College.
