Academic Achievers

Academic Achievers was founded in 2010 by Janis Adams, a former classroom teacher. With no previous background in business, Janis Adams propelled her small tutoring agency from a cold start to an almost million dollar business in 5 years.

While the tutoring industry increased at the rate of 3% annually, Academic Achievers increased revenue at the rate of 30% annually. Since its inception as an agency for high school remediation, Academic Achievers expanded to SAT, ACT and ISEE test prep, elementary teachers, kindergarten preparation, and college and career counseling.

Since July 2014, Academic Achievers became a verified homeschool by the State of California and completed its first year of working with homeschool students in their new expanded facility. They now have a gifted enrichment program for students who test in the highly to profoundly gifted range and need special accelerated schooling.

They added Summer KinderPrep Camp a play based/academically oriented day camp for ages 3 to 5 which ran its first full summer this year at their Santa Monica facility. KinderPrep Camp accommodated 50 students.

Also this year, the owner, Janis Adams, was accepted into the IECA, Independent Educational Consultants Association.

Academic Achievers is now a full service educational agency working with students from pre-K through and including college applications. They have a growing international clientele and work by remote with students in Dubai, Jakarta, Belgium and China.

Janis Adams was a classroom teacher for 25 years before deciding to create an educational business based on the premise that if you love to learn, you will succeed. Through her guidance, her 3 children were all accepted to the Ivy Leagues. Working with her staff of 5 women, Academic Achievers has grown to a million dollar company in five years. Janis Adams has been nominated as a "Woman Making Difference" by the Los Angeles Business Journal for the last 3 years. She is a member of the IECA and a strong participant in the educational community of Los Angeles.
