I am honored to submit my nomination for Technology Executive of the Year. As the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer at Lightning Step, I have dedicated my career to the singular mission of empowering behavioral health clinicians to focus on what matters most: helping people heal. Through servant leadership, innovation, and a relentless focus on making technology simpler, I have guided Lightning Step to deliver transformative solutions that improve patient outcomes, reduce burnout, and enable organizations to serve more clients effectively.

    A Mission-Driven Vision

Early in my career, I recognized the challenges behavioral health professionals face when administrative burdens overshadow patient care. My leadership style centers on servant leadership, providing teams with the empowerment, support, and responsibility they need to solve complex problems. By hiring individuals whose personal values align with our mission, we have cultivated a culture of creativity, empathy, and excellence.

    Groundbreaking Innovation & Real-World Impact

Under my leadership, Lightning Step has built and refined a comprehensive all-in-one solution, combining CRM, EHR, and RCM capabilities so behavioral health providers can view and manage the entire patient journey on one platform. Most notably, we introduced LIA, an AI-powered documentation tool that saves clinicians over 15 hours per month, freeing them to focus on patient care, reduce burnout, and increase their capacity to see more clients.

The impact of these innovations has been striking. Clients have reported:

    • A 25% increase in patient load due to the efficiencies gained.

    • Improved patient outcomes, with a 30% improvement across GAD and PHQ assessments.

    • The ability to offer telehealth services seamlessly within the same system, thus expanding their reach to underserved populations.

    Overcoming Challenges & Cultivating a Solution-Oriented Culture

When I joined Lightning Step, the product teams primarily reacted to client requests rather than examining underlying needs. I shifted the culture from “build this feature because they asked for it” to “let’s understand the bigger problem and solve it in the best possible way.” By rooting our approach in curiosity, empowerment, and teamwork, we established a nimble, innovative environment that drives deeper client partnerships and consistent product evolution.

    Empowering High-Performing Teams

Talent strategy at Lightning Step centers on identifying and nurturing A-players: professionals who not only excel in their domains but also embody our mission. By giving teams the responsibility and autonomy to innovate, they have engineered solutions like a user-friendly telehealth feature and a fully automated billing system. These achievements underscore my belief that culture, agility, and continual learning are critical to delivering outstanding results.

    Industry Thought Leadership

I am fortunate to have opportunities for extensive thought leadership, having spoken at dozens of conferences on topics ranging from AI to cybersecurity and compliance. Additionally, I am a published author and have received multiple nominations, finalist placements, and awards for executive leadership. These experiences have reinforced my drive to empower the broader industry with cutting-edge insights and foster collaboration among peers.

Driving Growth & Expanding Market Reach

Through a laser focus on addressing real-world challenges, we have increased our total addressable market (TAM) by 10x, enabling Lightning Step to grow over 50% for two consecutive years. Our product differentiation, centered on solving pain points in medication management, billing automation, and patient engagement. sets us apart in a competitive space.

Why I Should Be Named Technology Executive of the Year

My passion lies in creating technology that drives positive change in people’s lives. By delivering innovative tools that enable behavioral health organizations to serve more patients and achieve better outcomes, I strive to make a tangible, lasting impact on this critical field. Beyond the numbers, I am most proud of nurturing a high-performing team that shares our mission of supporting clinicians on the front lines of mental health care.

Thank you for considering my nomination. I look forward to continuing our mission
