Nomination Title: IDG Connect - Transition to Publisher

Tell the story about this nominated achievement since January 1 2013 (up to 525 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

IDG Connect places editorial excellence at the heart of its business. This enables it to sell a wide range of marketing services to technology clients worldwide and has seen revenues increase by 18.2% and profits increase by 27.6% through 2013.

In 2005 IDG Connect launched to monetize some ‘leftover’ international IT decision makers’ data. Now, in 2014 it operates across 130 countries, has extensive selling arms through EMEA and LatAm and a global website, which shares IT stories from around the world. This has been a systematic transition from lead generation, to demand generation, right through to editorially driven publisher.

On 4th June 2013 IDG Connect International launched a brand new website (www.idgconnect.com) which investigates ICT and the global community. Via an extensive network of local journalists, bloggers, thought leaders and our own editorial staff, we have covered countries ranging from Syria to Mongolia, Sierra Leone to Chile… along with the insight hottest US IT companies.

We have run interviews with world renowned industry figures such as Aaron Levie, CEO of Box and Peter Bauer, Co-Founder of Mimecast. But we have also spoken to individuals who have made a difference in their own unique sphere such as Gertjan van Stam who lived in the African bush for 12 years and facilitated the setup one of the biggest rural ICT networks in Zambia.

We have produced editorial reports on topics such as: ‘20 Red Hot, Pre-IPO Companies in 2014 B2B Tech’, ‘Business India 2014: A Bright Future?’ and ‘Ethiopian Business: Can $79 Billion Build a Private Sector from the Ground Up?’

This has gradually solidified our commercial reach round the world and has allowed us to produce a raft of information that didn’t previously exist. Our mobile infographic on Big Data in Africa for IBM, for example, provided new intelligence on Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya, was widely covered by the local press and generated over 400 targeted leads in four weeks.

Through EMEA, our ‘The Future of the Data Center’, website created on behalf of Oracle offered new insights into a very written about theme and was listed in the ‘105 Crucial Websites on Data Centers for IT Specialists’, by Technologyschools.org. This social portal formed the face of a fully integrated campaign, complete with a research, white paper, ongoing blogs and a targeted email distribution. The result was 561 leads from 26 countries in 6 months and this campaign has been extended through 2014.

To complete the circle and nurture our customer and prospect base of marketers, we also host an editorial marketing website: www.idgconnectmarketers.com. On here we publish interviews with CMOs, Q&As on regional marketing, regular reports (such as opinion: ‘Content Marketing 2013: What We Can Learn from Charles Dickens’ and research: ‘How to Drive Engagement Through Social Media), along with topical articles and insights from our in-house analyst. These deliver new leads for our own sales teams and help to engage an extensive potential customer base worldwide.

In summary, by consistently striving to produce high quality material for our database (editorial), clients (commercial) and prospects (marketing), we offer a unique blend of content, engagement and reach for our client base across the globe.
