With a sold-out event at more than 1,200 in attendance, The Home Depot Backyard’s Truist Night Market: Juneteenth Edition on June 13, 2024, paid homage to the excellence of Black culture and positioned to promote prosperity throughout the local African American community. This adult only food, beverage, and music experience celebrated spirit of the Juneteenth holiday by promoting economic equity by showcasing Black restauranteurs, chefs, and artisan vendors as well as several Black-owned spirit and beverage brands and musical talent. In total, we partnered with more than 50 Black-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase during Truist Night Market: Juneteenth edition. Attendees had their selection of more than 20 dishes from local chefs, 10 specialty cocktails and neat spirits from beverage partners, and 20 local artisan vendors to sip, savor, and shop with during the event.

Among the other activations was a marketing tent with giveaways by presenting sponsor Truist Bank, who also provided gifts for all the small businesses in attendance. The event also featured a massage and relaxation lounge, courtesy of Signia by Hilton, to help guests unwind after their workday. Another unique activation was a Black-owned and veteran-owned mobile cigar lounge, where guests could relax during the beautiful summer evening while enjoying their favorite cigar and cocktail. Local house band, Jukebox Atlanta, provided the soundtrack for the evening, playing a mix of R&B, Pop, and Hip-Hop hits and classics.

Our strategic partnerships with black-owned businesses to promote economic equity throughout the event had a lasting impact on those involved. As a result, the event circulated nearly $50,000 into local black-owned businesses within the greater Atlanta.

From a giveback perspective, The Home Depot Backyard, in partnership with event partners, donated the surplus food from the event to Second Helpings Atlanta to help fight food shortages and feed the homeless within the local community.

As a result, Truist Night Market: Juneteenth Edition became The Home Depot Backyard’s first sell out event in series history while promoting economic equity and celebrating the spirit of the Juneteenth holiday through showcasing local Black-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs. As the only paid series in the venue’s signature event portfolio, it was also the highest grossing Night Market event in venue history. The revenue made is then used to continue funding free programming for the community throughout the year.
