a. Accomplishments i. Taking down Rustock

1. Rustock, one of the most prolific and longest existing botnets, made a huge impact on the Internet as one of the largest cyber infrastructures in history at one point delivering over 80% of all spam email.

2. FireEye allied with Microsoft and Pfizer to take down the botnet. Working from FireEye's intelligence, U.S. Marshals stormed seven Internet data centers across the country, where Rustock had hidden its 96 command servers. Microsoft lawyers and technicians were there, too, along with forensics experts. Another team had been deployed in the Netherlands to destroy two other servers. For months, FireEye, Microsoft and Pfizer plotted a counterattack. But, T.J. Campana, senior manager for investigations for Microsoft's Digital Crimes Unit, called Alex Leinstein, network systems architect at FireEye that the sting was executed flawlessly.

ii. FireEye Founder and CEO, Ashar Aziz receives U.S. Patent for countering advanced cyber attacks such as zero-day, APTs and targeted attacks

1. The U.S. Patent Office has awarded patent no. 8,006,305 B2 (“Computer worm defense system and method") to FireEye founder and CEO, Ashar Aziz for creating a malware defense system and method.

FireEye is the leading provider of next-generation threat protection focused on combating advanced malware, zero-day and targeted APT attacks. FireEye's solutions supplement security defenses such as traditional and next-generation firewalls, IPS, antivirus and Web gateways, which can't stop advanced malware.
FireEye offers the only solution to stop advanced malware.

In February 2011 FireEye announced the ground-breaking Email Malware Protection System (MPS) which defeats next-generation spear phishing attacks that aggressively evade signature-based defenses and compromise the majority of today’s corporate networks. FireEye Malware Protection Systems, which include FireEye Web MPS and Email MPS, offer a fully integrated, inbound and outbound malware blocking defense. FireEye’s solution blocks known malware and its outbound transmissions, and then utilizes the most sophisticated virtual execution environment in the world to detect and block advanced malware.

Dynamic analysis of zero-day attacks within our virtual environment yields real-time malware security content to protect the local network, intelligence that can be shared to all subscribers of the FireEye Malware Protection Cloud. The MPS also has near-zero false positive rates and is plug-and-play, deploying within 30 minutes for a rapid security ROI.

FireEye has also recently experienced unprecedented growth as a company. The company has tripled in size aggressively hiring security professionals to work with customers and secure their networks. It has also expanded its security offerings to defend against email-based attacks in Feb, 2011. The fight against cyber criminals requires constant evolution to keep pace with ever more creative ways to steal valuable information.
