Ginny Chan joined CSPNJ in 2010 and has since become an integral and extremely well-respected member of the team. She was a volunteer at the Central Region office before becoming an executive assistant to the COO. Ginny was then promoted to serve the CEO and the rest of the C-Suite (a non-executive position) about 8 years ago. She's always been the go-to person at the agency and goes above and beyond her role in a warm, caring way. It wasn’t until she joined CSP that she fully realized she had a social anxiety disorder, “and being here has opened my eyes to mental health. Everyone here has been so supportive and I felt so lucky. I feel that CSP changed my life.”

Since January 2023, Ginny utilizes her wealth of experience to continue to provide an exceptional level of support to all those she comes in contact with. She always strives to help others and ensure they are well taken care of. She is understanding and thorough with teaching others who may not be tech-savvy or need extra assistance due to their personal difficulties. This trait is extremely desirable here at CSP because Ginny uses her lived experience to her advantage to help others.

Her day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing administrative systems: managing office supplies/equipment, placing orders/repairs as necessary, assisting the executive team, managing relationships with external contractors and vendors (i.e. custodial crew, landscaping), assisting new hires with IT needs, and providing backup to the Administrative Specialist. She is particularly adept at handling sensitive communications, acting as a liaison between the executive team and other departments, as well as key internal and external partners, clients, institutions, brokers, and other stakeholders, providing excellent customer service. She oversees staff interactions and responds to their queries on office management issues. She assists with a number of other behind-the-scenes tasks, like meeting scheduling, preparing agency travel/accommodations, board meeting preparation and meeting minutes, event planning such as the annual Fall Fest and fundraising galas. The list of responsibilities that she’s taken on over the years has continued to grow, which in turn has ensured CSP’s success and positively impacted individuals throughout NJ.

Ginny has done a tremendous job managing the agency vehicle fleet: procurement of vehicles, maintenance/repairs, ensuring compliance with government rules and regulations and filing paperwork in support of this compliance, communicating with dealerships and body shops to confirm repair, assisting with accident reporting, tracking fuel card and E-ZPass expenses, and GPS reporting.

As a non-profit agency, CSP relies on grant funding. The programs in operation today wouldn’t be possible without Ginny’s assistance; she was the one assembling all the grant materials to meet deadlines. In the past year alone, Ginny assisted with grant applications that resulted in securing over $20 million in funding.

Ginny onboarded her final coworker and officially retired at the end of October 2024. As one of our longest-tenured employees, it was no surprise to us that even after officially retiring, she continued to train our new employee and regularly checked her emails well into November to offer guidance/support. Throughout her tenure, she touched the lives of countless individuals, consistently going above and beyond to meet the needs of those we serve. She coordinated weekly food donation pickups, delivering critical supplies to community members in need. Her unwavering dedication and compassion are an inspiration to us all. Upon learning of her retirement, our donation partner expressed, “I am confident that you have changed lives in a very positive way by your work at CSPNJ.”

Our agency’s success is attributable in large part to Ginny. We have been able to continuously provide and expand our initiatives across the state knowing that we can rely on her, yet she is humble and has never been formally recognized with an award before. Speaking for everyone at CSP, we highly recommend Ginny as Support Staffer of the Year. She’s simply irreplaceable!
