Ivans was created more than 40 years ago as a non-profit by a group of 24 insurance carriers to digitally connect to their independent agency partners, enabling more effective product distribution. When Applied Systems acquired Ivans in 2013, the companies set out to bring innovation to the carrier-agency data exchange for the good of the industry.
Prior to the technology that Ivans delivers to both carriers and agents, agents would use either manual workflows or disparate applications to connect with carriers. Not only would this process create work and take time, carriers that don’t have a relationship with agents are left out of opportunities.
While there are several insurtechs that set out to remedy aspects of this industry-wide challenge, only Ivans, the US industry’s agnostic network, has been able to bring together agents, carriers, and MGAs to connect the industry by integrating with more than 45 agency management systems and partnering with more than 20 distribution-focused insurtechs. Since bringing on new leadership in 2020, the company has transformed from an antiquated network that focused mostly on the post-bind process to the industry’s superhighway that seamlessly connects and automates data exchange between carriers, MGAs and agencies at each stage of the policy lifecycle.
In 2024, Ivans Insights™, a powerful agency insights solution unlike anything else in the market – due to Ivans’ unique market position and data set – launched insights for personal lines, providing both personal and commercial lines carriers and MGAs the data they need to pinpoint opportunities for growth and drill into agency details. ACV for Ivans Insights grew by 379% year over year.
Ivans Distribution Platform added 17 new carriers, 30 more lines of business, and 3 new partners to expand the agency reach of products on the platform. Submissions via the platform grew 106% year over year. Ask Kodiak also added 20 new carriers/markets in 2024 and 700 new agency users, resulting in 400K average monthly appetite searches, up from 350K in 2023.
Ivans Bookroll started out with personal lines and in 2023, added commercial lines to allow carriers and agencies to collaborate more effectively in moving a book of business. In 2024, 5.5M policies were shared, up from 2M policies shared in 2023.

Ivans has virtually no direct competitors, only competitors with point solutions that compete with individual Ivans products. However, the difference between Ivans and these point solutions is the data that Ivans contains. With 700 carriers and MGAs, and 38,000 agents using Ivans to make more than 1 million transactions every day, Ivans has the largest P&C data set in the insurance industry. This enables connectivity and intelligent insights for industry stakeholders – and the network continues to grow.
The Ivans product portfolio enables seamless connectivity between agents, MGAs and carriers, using the Ivans Distribution Platform (IDP) as the foundation in which all distribution technologies connect. This enables agents to use their quoting application, connected to IDP, to search for appetite when they receive a customer risk. The quoting application uses the Ask Kodiak technology within IDP to find appropriate appetite from the carriers, similar to Expedia. Once carriers with appetite have been identified, the quoting application intakes the customer data and then automatically submits it through IDP to the carriers quoting APIs. The carriers come back with quotes and the agents binds the policy.
Using Ivans Download, the carrier makes the policy information and documents available within all leading agency management systems, and any agent policy, billing, claims and payment inquiries can be directed to the carrier’s workflows using Ivans eServicing. When agents receive a quest to transfer their books of business to carriers, Ivans Bookroll automates the matching and sharing of the policy information of the requested book.
