Action Ambulance Service has focused on leadership development and employee
engagement over the past year. Our employees are our greatest asset and we
strongly believe that to be successful we need our employees at all levels to
be fully engaged and part of the decision making process. In an effort to
solicit input from our employees we have an open door policy that encourages
employees to speak with any member of the leadership team. We emphasize the
importance of relationship building between members of the leadership team and
the employees they oversee and we provide monthly training on issues concerning
communication, relationship building and work styles to all members of our
leadership team. Our leadership team follows the philosophy that to lead is to
serve and in order to serve we must identify and meet the needs of our
employees. Our leadership style is to lead by example and all of our leaders
can be seen on a daily basis helping out with dispatching, customer service or
on field calls. The leadership team is focused on building relationships with
the employees, seeking their input, including them in the decisions made for
the organization. Our organization's culture is focused on employee engagement
and that includes actively involving our employees at all levels in the
business decisions that affect top line revenue and bottom line profitability.
Involving the employees in decisions regarding contracts to pursue, growth
opportunities and contract maintenance improves our top line revenue numbers.
Through new hire orientation and annual employee review sessions our employees
are educated on our five business objectives, how they contribute to the
success of each business objective and how they have a direct impact in the
organization's success. Our first business objective is to Increase Sales and
Profits. Every employee - from field staff to dispatchers to patient account
representatives to fleet mechanics - is educated on how they help the
organization on a daily basis to achieve business objective number one. They
are involved in process improvement projects to identify opportunities to make
improvements and they are encouraged to use innovative approaches to solving
problems. Using process improvement tools and employee task forces has allowed
our organization to recognize potential waste and to make process improvements
that have increased our bottom line profitability. This information is shared
with the leadership team on a weekly basis and is shared with various
departments on a monthly basis to educate and encourage future improvements.
This dedication to the employees has helped us stay strong, grow and prosper.
