Tell the story about what this nominee achieved since January 1 2012 (up to 525 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Pamela Clark serves many new families a year, this is in-spite of serious health issues, she's is a survivor of seventy surgeries, and has overcome being a severely malnutrioned child. Through her tireless self-sacrificing efforts to reach children and adults struggling with personal educational issues, she has built a non profit that serves all families from all backgrounds and beliefs. Over the last ten years and during Founder/Director Mrs.Clark’s journey of discovery in bettering her children’s education, Mrs. Clark has explored many options including home schooling, charter schools and local public school settings.

Through her involvement with these educational systems, Mrs. Clark has not only found strength and weaknesses in these systems that affected her children’s learning abilities, but she also encountered other families asking similar questions in attempt to improve their own children’s educational xperiences. In the gathering of these families together, Mrs. Clark discovered the families were able to help each other, especially in understanding how to teach children with learning difficulties such ADHD, Bi-Polar disorder, Autism, Neurological Disorders, and Processing Disorders.  In addition to more successful child-focused learning techniques, families further found themselves better able to cope with their children’s struggles because of increased social supports and shared skills. This experience gave credibility to Mrs. Clark’s vision of one day having a Resource and Literacy Center that would function as a place for families to come for educational helps and supports. New Heights provide "fill-in-the-gap" type one-on-one tutoring for youth and adults. All teachers and students are required to meet three hours a week over a three-day period. We found that ""fill-in-the-gap" type tutoring is necessary in reaching students that have been left behind in traditional settings.

She helps develop self-confidence, creativity, leadership skills in New Height’s students. During its operation, New Heights has grown and has been able to clearly define a literacy program that is suited for all ages. The need for services continues to grow through word-of-mouth referrals and distribution ofbrochures and a website.

It is the goal of the organization to continue to service all families in need. Increased funding of the literacy program would be beneficial to the area it serves by making more resources available. Families all over the world are affected by the devastation of illiteracy. New Heights keeps its doors open to all families that seek a way out. We have already served over 435 families since our creation.
