More than seven years ago, the frustration and cost of property maintenance inefficiency became too great for one property owner who said, “We can do better! Much better! “ and the idea for Mobile-Shop was born. The inventor, an owner/manager of 1,500 apartments, was all too familiar with the lack of organization and accountability in property maintenance. With only a box or a bag to organize the hundreds of tools and parts needed to do their job, his technicians spent more time looking for what they needed than actually doing the work. Paying his staff to search for the tools and parts they needed and drive to the store to repurchase them was costing his company a fortune.
Since 1998 more than a dozen prototypes of the Mobile-Shop System have been built and tested, logging thousands of hours of actual use on hundreds of jobs. Each step of the way, professionals from the maintenance and construction industries were closely consulted to ensure the best possible final design. Because we were designing a solution for ourselves and not a product for the marketplace we were better able to focus on enhancing and improving the Mobile-Shop’s capabilities without concern for production costs, profit margins and other distractions that could have produced a lesser product. These efforts produced a superior system that once discovered, generated demand from the maintenance industry resulting in $500,000 in sales. The Mobile-Shop System delivers its innovative solutions through a number of unique and complimentary features beginning with its four integrated tool organizers and the complete set of 230 high quality tools and 180 critical small parts they contain. This comprehensive set is made easily accountable by placing every tool and part in its own numbered and labeled pocket or bin. For the first time a technician can be provided with the best set of hand tools available and easily be held responsible for the proper care and return of each item.
The Mobile-Shop System also provides effective solutions to the problems of theft and safety. With its on-board cover and alarm system, a tool set has never been more secure; and, the organized and predictable positioning of each tool greatly helps reduce the number one worker injury, lacerations caused by reaching into a messy tool box. The Mobile-Shop is highly transportable, and easily goes where you want it to go - around the property or job-site, up stairs, even into a small vehicle in less than 30 seconds. Edward Guirlinger, a self described “organizational freak” is a highly energetic and tireless “serial” inventor and entrepreneur who holds several patents.
Edward has a bachelor’s degree in business finance from Stetson University and 25 years experience in real estate, business management and construction. He is an experienced designer and builder of single-family homes and multifamily housing with an emphasis on reconstruction, remodeling and maintenance. He is also an experienced fabricator and possesses natural engineering talent.
Edward is a devoted husband and father of 4 able to manage quality time with the children even amidst the many 18 hour days.
