Tell the story about what this nominated organization achieved since January 1 2012 (up to 525 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Dean Chang founded Actiontec in 1993 with the vision to be the leading provider of innovative broadband communications solutions. Since then, Actiontec has become one of the largest CPE (customer premise equipment) suppliers in North America, with more than 30 million connected home devices sold to date.

2012 has been a particularly strong year for the company. Revenues grew 19%. Supplier awards include Verizon, CenturyLink, Frontier Communications, Telus, Bell Aliant, TDS, and Sasktel.

Actiontec believes that IPTV is the future of television. The company’s mission is to enable broadband service providers to deliver entirely new communication and entertainment experiences. The connected home is evolving fast, with increasing demands for speed, applications, and content. From televisions and gaming consoles, to tablets and smartphones, more devices in the home or office require network connectivity than ever before.

Actiontec is committed to helping service providers rise to the occasion and turn these needs into a reality. They’re developing products that not only push faster speeds to the home, but within the home as well. The company’s whole-home solutions give consumers countless wired and wireless options for connecting their home theater devices, gaming consoles, computers, tablets, mobile devices, and more. With uncompromised quality, they’re making sure consumers can watch television and HD video just about anywhere in the home.

For example, in 2012, Actiontec released the next generation version of its fiber IPTV router. This ultra- fast, ultra-powerful GigE router packs in more features and performance specifications than any other broadband home router on the market for brilliant HD performance and incredibly fast home networking.

The company also unveiled a wireless display kit that lets users wirelessly display any content from a laptop, tablet, or smartphone on an HDTV. That means you can watch movies from Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube on your television, display the photos stored on your tablet on your HDTV, or beam your big presentation from your smartphone.

In addition to product releases, Actiontec continued its commitment to industry alliances in 2012. It played an active role in many industry organizations, including: DSL Forum, WiFi Alliance, HomePlug Powerline Alliance, MoCA (Multimedia over Coax) Alliance, HPNA, Z-Wave Alliance and the Zigbee Alliance.

As a minority owned company, Actiontec is committed to the world they live in by promoting diversity among their employees and partners, and actively pushing a variety of green programs designed to reduce the carbon footprint of the company, and customers. The company continued its formal Sustainability Program, setting aggressive targets in multiple areas, including: water conservation, electronic waste and scrap product recycling, paper recycling, energy usage and more.

Actiontec also began participating in the Conflict Minerals Pilot Program in 2012, since minerals originating from conflict regions can end up in electronics and other products. The program aims to bring more transparency to the product supply chain and help promote the responsible sourcing of mineral resources.
