In SAR we understand our success begins with our employees who feel appreciated, connected, and committed. We believe that creating an engaging and welcoming environment that celebrates our employees, and their contributions is important to enhance their engagement and job satisfaction. Therefore, we designed and hosted events as part of our employee engagement program that are not just rewarding but also connecting us with the employees emotionally and socially. Starting with our annual employee gathering, to Ramadan iftars and joyful kids’ day. Every event is designed to ensure every employee feels valued and included, regardless of their location.
We have a vision for every event that we work to visualize it and bring it to life as we imagine. For example, our annual event is not just as a celebration of what we have accomplished in the past year but also an opportunity to engage, feel a sense of unity, and get excited about the next year journey ahead together. Another example, in the Saudi National Day celebration, we represented our journey from the past to our bright future. We reflect on where we started in Saudi Arabia with house made of mud bricks then we step into a train that symbolizes our journey as SAR employees and how far we’ve come in our journey forward together. Furthermore, Ramadan iftar isn't just about sharing a meal it’s a collective spirit and a warm inclusive cultural sharing since we have a diverse workforce. Moreover, the human side of work is important for our culture, and we work hard to represent that in our events as in kids’ day. In this day we ensure to have a child friendly space and activities so employees can enjoy their time with their kids. It is also an opportunity employee’s children to engage in their parent’s workplace. This event is meaningful to our employees.
After having the vision, the planning phase begins. For each event, the planning activities include budgets, logistics arrangements, vendors, and announcements. Each event and location have its own unique requirements. For example, SAR remote locations have their own planning and arrangements based on the location’s circumstances. Another example, we consider the small gifts we give during our events. For the locations based in cities, we can offer chocolates. However, it can be challenging in remote areas where the chocolates might melt before they even arrive due to logistical obstacles. That's why we focus on gifts that will benefit our employees like vests, hats, and other practical items that are not affected by weather or shipping challenges.
Promoting our events is another important step to encouraging employees’ participation. For example, we use our internal communication channels like newsletters, emails, banners for announcements. We highlight the importance of coming and enjoying these shared experiences.
In our events we put all our plans into actions starting with organizing the event theme, activities, and catering. This required us not only teamwork but also a quick problem solving to adapt to any last-minute challenges for example, we need to move outdoor events indoors when rain hits. During the events, we focus on employees’ engagement. We want the employees to interact with each other to create friendly and inviting events atmospheres.
In conclusion, our events are more than just calendar. It is SAR culture and values that we work hard to build and reinforce. These events helped us to get highly engaged employees as we got 88% response rate in an engagement survey which is a high rate compare with previous years. We work on creating an environment where every employee feels connected and valued. As we look to the future, we work to enhance this journey of interaction, engagment and we make sure that every employee contribution is recognized and celebrated.
