    Organizational Management:

As one of the largest hospitals and research centres in Saudi Arabia, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre KFSHRC recognized the need to enhance the efficiency and agility of its training and human resource development efforts.

Traditionally, KFSHRC had solely relied on classroom instruction, necessitating the manual generation of reports and certificates. This approach was not only resource-intensive but also time-consuming, limiting the accessibility of the latest learning materials to many employees, encompassing 16,000 personnel in KFSHRC, who could not attend in-person sessions amidst burgeoning workload and patient needs. These limitations drove the need for a system allowing individuals to access and engage with e-learning materials from any location at any time.

    Research & Development

The Training and Development Division T&DD at KFSHRC started by identifying the specific needs of each hospital department and recognizing the challenges associated with manual learning processes. In parallel, the difficulties confronted by training administrators and departmental educators were meticulously assessed, leading to the provision of a comprehensive framework of issues to address. This included improved guidance on navigating the education management system, periodic data entry into the system, acquiring individualized training attendance reports, and establishing links between mandatory courses and the re-contracting of employees.

Subsequently, T&DD engaged with several companies to establish contracts for e-learning solutions. After careful evaluation of the chosen company's capabilities in meeting the departmental demands, the T&DD sought the hospital's approval to secure 13,500 permanent licenses, along with 100,000 Saudi Riyals for personal skills sessions and an additional 300,000 Saudi Riyals for the maintenance of the Learning Management System LMS, on a novel platform called the iLearn portal.

The primary objective of iLearn Portal was to establish a uniform learning environment by centralizing content that was available at the convenience of KFSHRC's staff. This entailed simplifying reporting and tracking processes while fostering more efficient learning with up-to-date information.

    Other goals included:

    • Streamlining the process of updating educational materials, leading to significant time savings.
    • Substantially reducing expenditure on hourly personal training.
    • Facilitating convenient access to e-learning resources, both within and beyond the hospital premises.
    • Infusing the hospital's distinctive character and culture into the electronic educational system.
    • Enabling the retrieval of comprehensive reports and data on individuals who have undergone training in any subject within the system.

    Employee Development

After introducing the iLearn Portal in Q1 2022, KFSHRC achieved remarkable time and cost savings, aligning with their primary objective of establishing a uniform learning environment.

The LMS meticulously tracks all educational activities within the hospital, offering a repository of more than 400 online courses, including subjects like Fire Safety, and an extensive catalogue of over 300 courses spanning career development, Information Technology, Management, leadership skills, and Personal Development skills.

By centralizing content, KFSHRC simplified reporting and tracking processes, enabling faster, more efficient learning with up-to-date information. This streamlined not only the process of updating educational materials, leading to significant time savings but also substantially reduced expenses on hourly personal training.

Furthermore, KFSHRC effectively addressed employee needs, facilitating participation in up-to-date educational programs, equivalent to an impressive 164,085 online sessions last year alone.

Additionally, it facilitated convenient access to e-learning resources, both within and beyond the hospital premises. Moreover, it allowed the infusion of the hospital's distinctive character and culture into the electronic educational system, creating a unique and engaging learning experience. Furthermore, this initiative enabled the retrieval of comprehensive reports and data on individuals who underwent training in any subject within the system. All these advantages contributed to substantial financial gains of 8,204,250 Saudi Riyals 2,187,800 USD.
