Nomination Title: Our Innovative Achievements For Peace and Empowerment in the Arab World

Since October 2018, HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah ensured steady and situation-sensitive mental health support programs. Since its launch, Intisar Foundation has held over 2,500 hours of programs on the field, worked directly with over 250 women affected by trauma, launched thirteen Drama Therapy programs and one Eyemovement desensitization and reprocessing(EMDR) program. The Drama Therapy programs were spread out across Lebanon and Jordan. When the COVID19 pandemic started, the programs switched to virtual platforms to ensure continued support.

Following the Beirut Port explosion, Intisar Foundation responded to the dire psychological fallout by partnering with local NGOs working in the field of mental health care and started EMDR programs. These programs are targeted to women affected by the explosion to help them cope with and overcome the trauma of surviving such an event. More recently, a Drama Therapy program aimed at women in the workplace has been set to launch in February 2021. This program acknowledges the need for psychological support as a part of women-driven economic growth.

As a part of the plan to sustain the growth of Intisar Foundation, HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah has embarked on a mission to demystify the foundation's work through research and communication. In 2020, researchers working with Intisar Foundation published a scientific research paper on the qualitative impact of Drama Therapy. This study is the first of its kind, offering insight into the experiences of seven refugee women with Drama therapy, and its benefit for their mental health.

The study can be found here:
