The Federal Authority for Identity and Nationality (ICA)
Established in 2004, The Federal Authority for Identity and Nationality (ICA) of Ras Al Khamaih, United Arab Emirates specializes in providing identity services by issuing identity cards and passports to UAE citizens, and granting entry and residence permits to non-citizens.
In the inaugural Middle East Stevie Awards, The Federal Authority For Identity & Citizenship won two 2020 Silver Stevie Awards for Innovations in Government Services and Technology Development for their ICA UAE App and their Smart Gates Project
The ICA Smart App allows locals, residents, and visitors of the United Arab Emirates to benefit from the services of the ICA like visas, residencies, payment of fines, and renewal of passports, saving time and money while relieving the pressure on service centers. Processes that once took up to an hour or more now take 2 minutes via the app.
ICA’s Smart Gates Project is a service for the entry and exit of passengers using smart gates through the country's airports. It is a quick alternative to traditional passport control access. Travelers can now complete the process within seconds compared to the usual 30-minute procedure. And the project is the first of its kind in the world in terms of applying the registration of passports to non-citizens of the country.
In line with smart government and UAE vision 2020, ICAs innovative Smart App and Smart Gates Project exemplify the UAE’s leadership in electronic transformation and support for innovation and creativity to improve services and make customers happy.
