On March 5, 2022, fans of Batman were in for a delight as Warner Bros. World™ Abu Dhabi introduced the first-ever ‘Batman Run’, a Batman-themed run held as part of the family-friendly activities during ‘The Batman Season’ and in line with the release of the all-new DC movie, ‘The Batman’. Featuring exciting on-ground entertainment designed for superfans to make the most out of their Batman-inspired experience, Batman Run comprised three running routes; a 2km and a 5km race located around the perimeter of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, as well as a 200m Kids Run which was held inside the Park, all of which were suited for the young and the young at heart.
Prior to the event, fans were asked to go on the Gulf Multi Sport website to register and select their desired route in a fun and sportive event which granted parents and little ones a chance to spend a family-friendly experience alongside everyone’s favorite DC Super Hero. Guests were asked to abide by the COVID-19 precautionary measures to ensure everyone can enjoy a pleasant and safe experience by showing a Green Pass status on Al Hosn application and a PCR test completed within 96 hours of the event’s date in order to participate, as directed by the Abu Dhabi government.
The event was sold out with over 500 competitive spirits arriving to Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi from far and wide on race day, wearing a Batman T-shirt and cape, ready to earn a spot on the podium. Covered in Batman branding from start to finish, the 2km and 5km routes around Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi’s premises witnessed happy running spirits who made sure to remember this day as the highlight of their experience at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. Guests also engaged in Batman-inspired activities such as crafting a Batman Mosaic, indulging in a Batman waffle, watching the live demonstration of a Scribble Art artist and enjoying a face painting session.
The roads surrounding the world’s largest indoor theme park were blocked and closed using crowd control barriers and road closure equipment, in addition to having flag poles and sign board frames installed, as well as generators and cabling mounted to support timing equipment, with start and finish arches and sound systems. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi also offered guests a self-service water station at 1.5km from the starting point and a water bottle per runner. Event marshals were also scattered around the checkpoints to ensure the safety of everyone participating.
Following the 2km and 5km race, guests and families made their way inside the Park, where the 200m Kids Run was taking place in Gotham City. Right after, winners from each group were announced at the awards ceremony where they stood on the podium to receive Batman-themed medals, standing next to Batman himself who surprised superfans at the end of an eventful day. Following the event, guests and families enjoyed the rest of ‘The Batman Season’ in-Park activities and live shows that were at Gotham City, such as the ‘Scarecrow Revenge’ show, which also featured DC Super-Villains Harley Quinn and Scarecrow. Participants were able to be part of the event for the price of AED 75 and they also got the chance to receive a 15% discount on multi-park annual pass memberships.
