DHL Saudi marches on with the growth of “Paperless Trade” solution (hereafter referred to as “PLT”) to DHL customers requiring customs clearance for export and import shipments at destination. This DHL optional service providing the ability for customers to send DHL their customs related documents electronically eliminating the need to print and attach customs paperwork physically to the shipments. These documents may include:

Certificate of Origin
Certificates of Inspection, of Insurance, of Manufacture
Controlled Exports
Import License
Phytosanitary Inspection Certificate
Consular Invoice
Shipper‘s Declaration/DGD

Electronic Shipping Solutions (ESS) team made of 4 expert members is always in the pursuit of meeting customer’s expectation by reaching out to customers to utilize out of the box innovative PLT solution. This team was able to achieve all DHL global KPIs thought the entire 2019 and 2020.

DHL Saudi launched this service last year, and 2020 was the year of growth and to expand the usage to share the benefits with more users and contribute even bigger to the environment.

Electronic Shipping Solutions team actively called and followed up with customers – upselling PLT Service. Team spent 1 hour daily to upsell PLT to convince customer to use PLT service rather than printing on paper.

-Weekly team meetings kept the focus on top customers.
-Monthly performance reports aided to increase PLT service penetration.
-2019 PLT shipments at 74 thousand, in 2020 more than 1 million shipments used PLT, resultant was -1260%+ YOY growth. Saving 2 million papers.
-With minimum of 10k papers produced by average tree, results in 200 trees saved (YTD) and likely to save 250+ trees by end of 2020.
-Simple calculation is "Around six trees will fix 1 ton of CO2” (i.e. 200/6) equals 35 tons CO2 offset by this initiative.
