Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) is one of the UAE’s leading financial institutions. It was established in 1971 to provide financing for infrastructure projects in developing countries, which would bolster their economy while enabling them to fulfil their sustainable-development agenda.
ADFD provides concessional loans and manages government grants for sustainable infrastructure projects to drive socioeconomic development in developing countries.
ADFD finances strategic infrastructure projects in (+100) countries across Africa; Central, South and North Asia; Europe; Latin America; and the Middle East.
In line with the UAE efforts to preserve its development legacy and in line with the ADFD strategic objectives in building a prosperous and sustainable future for generations to come, ADFD has launched on September 2024 the first live radio programme about sustainability in the UAE, titled "Sustainable Awareness," coinciding with the country's initiative to continue making 2024 a "Year of Sustainability''.
The programme aims to raise awareness about environmental, social, and economic sustainability issues and highlights the UAE's strong track record of quality sustainable practices.
The programme also sheds light on the efforts of national institutions and their active role in fostering strategic partnerships with countries worldwide to address sustainability challenges and seek innovative solutions to support sustainable development goals, and accelerate the global transition to a green economy for a better future for all.
Sustainable Awareness Programme is aimed at raising the local community's understanding of sustainability concepts and requirements while highlighting the UAE's heritage in this field. It aimed to present best practices, quality initiatives, and developmental projects that support sustainable development goals, enriching Arabic studies and research with relevant information and knowledge about sustainability.
The programme is broadcasting on Noor Dubai Radio, featuring a series of 13 episodes, where each episode covers various topics related to sustainability through inspiring dialogues and constructive discussions with officials, experts, and speakers in the field.
It will also address the role of national industries in supporting UAE export development policies and diversifying the local economy. It will tackle climate change issues by reviewing global practices to mitigate its effects and transitioning to clean energy, focusing on the outcomes of the historic UAE Consensus and the success of COP28 in balancing development and climate action requirements.
The programme also includes a variety of cultural competitions related to sustainability, with valuable prizes provided by ADFD.
Noor Dubai TV was chosen to ensure that it reaches the widest possible segment of followers. This program enables ADFD to achieve positive results at various levels, as a study was carried out to measure the impact of this program on the level of awareness on selected samples of the public in various regions, and the results of the study showed the following:
- The level of awareness of the public about issues related to environmental, economic and social sustainability has increased by approximately (56%) as a result of the awareness seminars and concepts addressed in this program related to sustainability issues.
- The percentage of public satisfaction with the program reached to (98%).
- Nearly (95%) of the public encouraged the continuation of such programs.
- Nearly (60%) of the public showed improvement in their practices of issues and concepts related to sustainability as an impact of this program, such as energy and water consumption practices, etc.
- The program contributed to improving the level of marketing of ADFD's role and institutional reputation, as the study showed that approximately (32%) of respondents showed their knowledge of the role of ADFD through this program.
- Nearly )14%( of respondents said they had already embarked on sustainability-related community initiatives and projects inspired by the panels and discussions.
- The program contributed to increasing the number of media appearances of the Fund in articles, news and various media outlets by (3%).
