Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated management team since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):

Prelude’s mission is to make Britain the most enterprising nation in the world. We do that by helping high-growth entrepreneurs build to the next stage of their growth. Our membership clubs and events facilitate peer-to-peer learning and the development of valuable connections. Our structured training is driven by best practice from thousands of events for the country’s most successful entrepreneurs over 12 years.

Last year, our management team helped the business grow customer numbers by over 20%, resulting in a threefold increase in company profits. We made 20,160 introductions and ran 322 events, adding huge value to our customers: “One introduction resulted in £2m being added to our top line” Mark White, Seko Logistics.

We’re projected to continue our rapid growth trajectory this year with projections of 40% profit growth by increasing our customer base, launching new offerings, and improving internal efficiencies.

Success through Innovation

Our success results from constant innovation in promoting best practice in entrepreneurship and business growth, creating market leading services. Innovation is in our DNA. In 2015 we launched The Directors’ Club after spotting a gap in the market. The Club empowers directors to manage their entrepreneurs, develop strategic vision, and implement change effectively. We already have over 50 members.

In 2015 we launched a partnership strategy to boost revenues and work with trusted partners to provide better services for our customers. We partnered with Santander on their trade missions, resulting in our members opening franchises and offices in international markets including Dubai and New York.

Internal Innovation

Our expert team is both reactive and proactive to our customers’ needs, seeking out opportunities and value-adds for our members. For example, when we noticed multiple members were opening New York offices, within two weeks we arranged an event to bring them together to share resources and connections. Or when one member told us about his new business idea, we connected him with another member with corresponding expertise. They co-founded the new business together a few months later.

The Directors created a delegation process to drive the change process and ensure ideas are implemented successfully. They also champion a ‘review & improve’ process where every activity is reviewed to identify future improvements. This process has led to a threefold increase in attendees for our Growth Programmes, and means we are constantly innovating to add maximum value for customers.

Our two female directors heading the business are prominent leaders in the entrepreneurial sector, with Jane Gomez a leader in strategic growth, and Emma-Jane Packe specialising in people management and engagement.

Both regularly blog and write for business media, bringing their leadership expertise to ever-wider audiences, and speak at enterprise events, raising the profile of Prelude, and standing out as inspirational female leaders.

Emma-Jane Packe began her career in media sales, which led to her managing teams in London and Amsterdam. On returning to the UK, consulting for a startup sparked an interest in enterprise. At Prelude, Emma-Jane combines her understanding of the enterprise sector with a vocation for people management, and innovation in business processes and operations, to lead as Managing Director.

Jane Gomez has worked for entrepreneurial businesses for over ten years, working as Operations Director at i-vu before joining Prelude in 2009, and is now the Strategic Director. She's passionate about building teams, and results-driven creative approaches to business. Having chaired hundreds of discussions, she has unparalleled insight into entrepreneurial sentiment in the UK and challenges facing business leaders.
