Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated entrepreneur since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):
On the heels of such a successful year — her sixth in business — Julie Seal, owner of Mirus Promotions, knew she had a tough act to follow. But, this powerhouse was undeterred; she knew merely resting on her laurels was a recipe for decay, not the continued growth she sought. The result? Year 7 of helping companies build their brands has been even better than its predecessor — and it had nothing to do with luck.
Let’s start with the all-important bottom line. As of September 2016, Mirus Promotions’ revenue surpassed the total for all of 2015 and is on target to hit $500,000 by year-end — a whopping 40% increase over the previous year.
How does such a significant revenue jump like that occur? Julie knows to achieve her dreams of consistent growth, it’s necessary to invest in her people, her programs, and her relationships.
On the people side, she is proud of the jobs she has created and additional personalized support she can offer. Within the last year, Julie hired six new employees to support operations and marketing efforts for clients. She created a two-week training program for new hires and enlisted one of her senior staff to assist with aspects of it. Julie has a knack for knowing who will be a successful addition to her team and how to set them up for success. Her “hiring radar” has paid off wonderfully so far.
On the programs sidefront, she developed and implemented merchandising and retail sales support plans for clients in the Northeast and Northern California regions. This new service proved to be a fantastic addition to her business model, which stands to reason since it was the result of identifying a need the initial model did notn’t address.
On the relationships side, she gained two new strategic partnerships with companies that sought her expertise in the experiential marketing industry and the west coast. One of the partnerships paid immediate dividends, as Julie was invited to New York by Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées to present to French wine producers from the region about best practices in marketing to the west coast wine consumer.
A few other recent achievements are more focused on Mirus Promotions’ Southern California roots. For the second time, SD Metro Magazine chose Julie as a Top 40 Under 40 honoree — and she was even the cover girl for the issue in which the 2016 class was unveiled. Mirus Promotions was also named as one of SD Metro Magazine’s “Most Admired Companies.” And, combining business and fun, Julie hosted her first client appreciation party for Southern California clients at the world-famous Del Mar racetrack.
All while achieving this growth, Julie continued to give back by donating her time, services, and fundraising expertise to UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center for the third year in a row, raising funds for cancer research. She also regularly donated her time to San Diego State University’s Aztec Mentor Program and The Rescue House animal rescue group. She continued to inspire her team members to get involved in her causes as well as those that resonate with them.

San Diego native Julie Seal received her B.A. in liberal studies from San Diego State University and earned a multiple subject teaching credential before embarking on a career to shape the young minds of tomorrow’s leaders. When she was laid off in 2009, she decided to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams, founding Mirus Promotions, Inc., a national experiential marketing enterprise providing brand representatives who drive sales and awareness. While overseeing the company’s rapid growth across the U.S., Julie continued her education, receiving an M.A. from SDSU in 2011. She serves as a role model to her young staff members and also spends a lot of time volunteering for non-profit organizations, believing it’s very important to give back to the community.
