Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated entrepreneur since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):
In 2017 LoveBug was available in 2,000 retailer's doors. Now in 2018, we are available in more than 10,000 doors, including a nationwide launch at CVS. We increased our revenue by 350% from 2016 to 2017 (reviewed financials). We are building a highly differentiated brand and voice, as can be seen on our social media (see attached links) in which our message is educational, millennial and informative. LoveBug has a unique, fun, and approachable voice - with a particular emphasis on changing the world through the health of moms and babies.
We are at the forefront of product development in probiotics, and this year we launched "The First Staged Probiotic for Babies" which is a proprietary blend of probiotics for babies from birth to age 4. We recently won the Eco Excellence award for best new supplement for kids - a prestigious award won by several hundred million dollar brands.
We also launched a new product, "Labor of Love" which is a pre- and post-natal probiotic with Folic Acid. Labor of Love not only nurtures a pregnant mom’s microbiome, but also provides breastfeeding moms key strains at the most crucial stage of development of a baby's microbiome. - 80% of which is formed between birth and the age of three.
LoveBug is woman-owned and woman-led, and we are very proud to claim "By a Mom, for Moms.” The Genesis of LoveBug occurred after Ashley became sick from multiple courses of antibiotics during the birth of her son. While antibiotics are incredibly useful, they not only kill the bad bacteria, but the good as well. Surprisingly, children under the age of two are prescribed more antibiotics per capita than any other age group. Ashley created LoveBug to provide condition specific, premium probiotics for the whole family. Hippocrates said it best when he stated "all disease begins in the gut." Conversely, so do health and wellness, wherein 70% of a person's immune system begins there. LoveBug Probiotics is mission driven to make this generation of families the healthiest ever.
