Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated organization since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):

Impact PR & Communications, Ltd. (http: //www.prwithimpact.com/ ) has grown exponentially since its founding in early 2014 in New York’s Hudson Valley region. In fact, its revenues have more than doubled each year and Impact PR & Communications saw a more than 90% increase in revenue last year alone. Though profits are impressive, the firm’s accomplishments and positive influence on the community in which it is based are even more so.

Impact PR & Communications, which started out as a solo operation, is today an award-winning New York State certified MWBE (Women’s Business Enterprise). The company is made up of an all-female team of six professionals, creating jobs and sustainable opportunities for other women, all of whom, like the founder, are working mothers. Its policies are progressive; employees are encouraged to work flexible schedules that bring about a better work-life balance, they receive unlimited paid time off/vacations, ample professional development is a regular thing (think team-building and skills-building boot camp, walks/runs and meetings over pedicures), and team members are welcome to volunteer for non-profits during typical work hours.

As an agency, Impact PR & Communications joins together to support the local community, giving its time and talent to non-profits. An example is the recent fundraising spin class the team organized for Leap for Autism, an event to raise funds for programs for individuals with autism in the local community, for which the firm volunteered its public relations services and sponsored a “designated diver,” a skydiver to jump out of an airplane for the cause. In total, the event raised more than $57,000, far exceeding its goal. Last year, the Impact PR & Communications team also helped bring the first-ever Team Hope Walk to the Hudson Valley and sponsored the event, which raised more than $27,000 to help individuals with Huntington’s disease in the Hudson Valley.

Impact PR & Communications isn’t only achieving a work-life balance and do-gooding; it’s also grown an impressive roster of clients (the kind that led to that 90% growth). It has worked with ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club), Angry Orchard, ArchCare (the Archdiocese of New York’s healthcare system, for which it won an Hermes Gold award), Astor Services for Children & Families, Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, Tompkins Mahopac Bank and William Raveis Real Estate (#1 family-owned residential real estate firm in the Northeast), among others.

The firm is using its growth to give back, mentoring up-and-coming public relations and communications professionals, including overseeing interns from nearby Marist College, where its CEO and Founder, Filomena Fanelli, served as an adjunct in 2016 and guest lectures regularly, as well as giving back through its local Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Leadership program, providing career direction and skills to a high school student (also a female). Fanelli regularly leads talks on public relations and entrepreneurship topics and has spoken before the Women’s Leadership Alliance, Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce and Hudson Valley Women in Business this year alone, fervently spreading the message that entrepreneurship can be a path to financial freedom for women.

Impact PR & Communications is proud to say its success has allowed it to make, as the firm’s name implies, an impact.
