Good Food Enterprise Co., Ltd is a chain restaurants dedicated to disadvantaged groups, community care and environmental sustainability. The company’s goal is to care for disadvantaged groups and communities, to provide job opportunities for them, and to achieve energy savings and carbon reduction. The company’s article of incorporation states that 30% of net income is to fund mentoring and support of disadvantaged groups, solve social problems, and to actively assist 60% of disadvantaged employees and their families. The methods used include company social workers referring social resources to disadvantaged employees, initiating an intrapreneurship system to develop various restaurant brands; using eco-friendly building materials, energy saving equipment and local ingredients; hiring local manpower; and giving back to local communities by providing free meals for disadvantaged groups.

Viola Cheng, the CEO of Good Food Enterprise, attended the GES 2016 hosted by President Obama in Silicon Valley. She also presented the company's business model at the Social Business East Asian Conference to Dr. Muhammad Yunus who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This year, she was a speaker in East-West Center and sharing Taiwan's social enterprise experience.

Adopting a creative business model with social impact allows our team to solve identified social problems. Although employees from disadvantaged groups do not all have the same level of learning ability and are not good at paperwork, the Cloud management system and e-learning SOP developed by our company has a simple user-friendly design, saving training time and manpower costs.

Charity activities are all funded by the company so that employees from economically disadvantaged groups can join volunteer services with peace of mind and can find self-belief and personal values. Branches initiate charity activities to strengthen teamwork.

Of the 17 items in the "Sustainable Development Goals" of the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit, 11 objectives have been met. In addition, they actively promote the growth potential of the international B Crop certification. Good Food created two brand of chain restaurants dedicated in disadvantaged groups, community care and environmental sustainability in the Taiwan area, with cooperatives of local manufacturers and farmers who supply and provide local work opportunities. With the help of ICT technology, a cloud Digital learning system, food safety system, and paperless digital management system have been created to effectively improve the economy and employment opportunities of disadvantaged families.

Previously, Ms. Cheng was a member of the Taiwan Government’s Youth Advisory Committee. Ms. Cheng won the Women's Entrepreneurship Award for best social enterprise group and was recipient of the Organizational Learning Rookie Award. She was also the Taiwan representative at the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit and this year, served as a female entrepreneurial ambassador for Taiwan. She received a full scholarship from East-West Center and published a plan to use the social innovation to change the world.
