Megan Driscoll started Evolve in September 2014 after realizing that no agency was offering the senior-level attention in the health care and beauty space that she knew through her experience that she could provide. Nor was there one that was owned, run, and staffed entirely by women. She saw this as an opportunity to try an experiment in both client service and employee retention.

Megan was doing something that hadn’t been tried, and she faced many challenges along the way. The women’s health and beauty industry is a competitive one for PR and marketing firms. Finding a foothold would prove exceptionally challenging to an upstart agency in an industry covered by a number of larger, more established PR and marketing entities.

Megan put in her own savings and gave over half of her home as office space to get Evolve up and running. She surrounded herself with like-minded professionals with experience in the field and passion for their work. She took care to create a company atmosphere that rewarded hard work and allowed career advancement opportunities for women.

The result of Megan’s work is an agency that in just two years’ time has grown to include an 18-person all-female staff serving 20 brands. The company has also risen from Megan’s apartment to a 5,000-square-foot custom designed space in Chelsea. All of Evolve’s business growth has risen organically and through word of mouth.

Megan is always conscious to let everyone know that Evolve is about more than just PR campaigns. It has a stake in the community and acts in selfless interest for those in need.

When Megan heard the terrifying and heartbreaking story of domestic abuse victim Michele M., who had her nose bitten off in a savage attack, she stepped up. On an October 2015 episode of “The Doctors,” Megan appeared to present a donation from Evolve for $20,000 to help cover Michele’s expenses while she underwent cosmetic surgery to recover from her ordeal.

Also in 2015, Evolve also donated $10,000 to the New York City charity Safe Horizons, and this year donated car services to rescued sex workers in San Francisco so that they can have their branding tattoos removed. This summer, the company sent 32 girls from a shelter in Philadelphia to a summer camp and fresh air outside of the city.

Megan recognizes that the greatest reward for getting the best out of employees is by offering the best to them. All fulltime employees receive free health insurance, and their cell phone plans are covered by the company. Other perks include regular beauty treatments (brow waxing, manicures, etc.,) and flexible work schedules so that employees can take care of their family obligations.

Evolve has grown tremendously in the last year and carved out a unique place among clients in the health and beauty market. It has demonstrated a commitment to the community, and its position as a great place to work are a testament to Megan Driscoll’s dedication and her entrepreneurial vision.
