Nomination Title: Revolutionizing Education with Innovative Technology

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated woman since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):

A major hurdle in education is clarity and measurement for professional development. To combat this, founder and CEO of engage2learn Shannon Buerk developed an online community and professional development system, eStudio. Her goal was to create a tipping point where public education is the primary choice for education. Shannon wanted to create engagement, growth, and future-ready skills for every adult and learner. The mechanism for this, eStudio, extends the impact of this engagement and growth by sustaining and measuring growth that is aligned to future-ready skills.

Thousands of educators, school administrators, and coaches collaborate in eStudio to create better learning outcomes for students in public schools. In the past year, eStudio has helped 3,164 teachers and administrators better prepare over 1.5 million students for the economy of tomorrow.

Teachers using eStudio are able to improve instructional methods through Shannon’s innovative project-based learning principles, now available in an easily accessible online forum. Users track their progress as they complete development challenges, which is then turned into actionable data. The user outcomes are measured through this data, enabling engage2learn to provide timely training and coaching to help educators improve their performance and results. A system of this type is cutting-edge in the field of education. Teacher and student growth can be recorded, assessed, and improved against state, district, campus, and engage2learn standards thanks to digitization.

Administrators and district leaders are also coached through eStudio, providing them with tools to support teachers in their mission to arm students with Future Ready Skills. This innovative online platform that Shannon created modernizes how educators work. Educators are no longer siloed.

eStudio connects teachers with each other, regardless of geographic location. This eliminates information disconnects between school districts and facilitates efficient, cohesive learning. To add to this level of support, eStudio is full of resources created for and by educators to aid in unit design and implementation, with new resources being added daily. eStudio also includes a badging system, to celebrate growth. When a user completes a unit of his or her training, a badge is awarded. The units correspond with different future-ready skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, use of technology, communication, and more. This badging system incentivizes teachers and administrators to complete their online training and become masters in the eStudio system.

In addition to the many other features, eStudio is a fully customizable system. The platform can be adjusted for any partner of engage2learn to account for unique classroom needs. Shannon believes in customizing her approach for each partner without compromising her company’s values, which in turn creates high performance cultures in public schools; a culture in which the districts are consistently tracking their performance and using that information to better themselves.

Although eStudio is largely implemented in the state of Texas, it is also used by public schools in California and Virginia. eStudio is now implemented from coast to coast in the U.S, bringing educators and administrators together for one goal: improving student learning outcomes.

Provide a brief biography of the nominated woman (up to 125 words):

Shannon K. Buerk is known throughout the nation as a leader in providing proven processes that empower high performing cultures for K-12 public schools. After serving as a teacher and district administrator for 20 years, Shannon founded engage2learn. The foundation for e2L evolved from Shannon’s love for her sister. Shannon’s sister, an artist, is a high school dropout who struggled to conform to a state accountability system that squashed creativity. Shannon, a high school valedictorian, saw first-hand the frustration her sister experienced and vowed to make a difference. Interestingly, Shannon and her sister’s IQs are only two points apart. As a result, e2L is a mission-minded company making learning meaningful for every student.
