Since establishing Enabled Employment, our CEO Jessica May has amassed an impressive range of recognition and awards. They include Finalist, 2015 and 2016 ACT Telstra Business Awards, Winner, 2015 ACT Telstra Business Women’s Awards, Winner, 2015 Telstra Women’s Business Awards Startup Category, Winner, StartupSmart Startup Hero Award 2015, Nominee, Rising Woman of Spirit, Women of Spirit Awards (ACT) 2015, Nominee, Australian of the Year Award 2015 & 2016, Winner, iAwards, Startup Company 2015, Winner, Graeme Innes AM Disability Employment Award 2015, and Global Excellence in Innovation Award 2015. But her real achievements have been with the company, which is a disruptive innovation in disability employment for Australia. The company was established in 2014, and Jessica's business model operates as any other non-government, non-charity recruitment company - with the exception that our candidates are all people with a disability or returned servicemen and women wounded by their service.
Jessica's company is proud to engender a culture which recognizes people with disability have skills and talents which are highly valuable to employers, and to the company itself. Our company must be an example and a model of what people with a disability can achieve, given the right flexible working conditions and a results only work environment. It is owned and operated solely by people with a disability, for people with a disability.
Enabled Employment is able to place people with a disability into employment on a full time, part time, or ad hoc basis with a higher success rate than government funded Disability Employment Service providers. The combination of flexible working options, results only work environments and inclusive employers is proving to be successful in an open marketplace with no government funding or other donations.
CEO Jessica May is able to use her position as a public platform for advocacy in disability employment (see www.enabledemployment.com/media) and has attended meetings and industry functions, and media engagements to ensure the idea of self-determination and an open marketplace for the employment of people with a disability not only gains traction in the market, but is raised as an issue in political and social arenas. The senior leadership team have met with various political figures on both sides of the political fence to ensure awareness of the innovation in the disability sector that our company represents.
Our mission statement is to provide flexible work options to people with a disability with inclusive employers through our labour hire website. We encourage our employers to use flexible working arrangements include teleworking, home based work, Results Only Work Environments, and flexible work hours.
We are the change we want to see in Australia, and in the rest of the world. Our company is sustainable; the model we’ve chosen indicates the change we believe is needed to ensure we lift people with disability out of poverty, and into work, and our research and results of our survey of employees confirm it.

Jess May is the founder and owner of Enabled Employment, a bold new internet start-up which provides teleworking opportunities for people with disability and servicemen and women wounded by their service.
Her CV is impressive, and includes the Prime Minister’s Award and the Innovation Award for Excellence in Public Sector Management, the Medicare Australia Achieving Excellence Award, and she was a recipient of the Robert Perry Memorial Scholarship at the Canberra Institute of Technology. She was also recognised by the Australia Day Council with an Achievement Medallion in 2007. Jess has a Diploma of Software Development, a Diploma of Project Management, and a Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Management.
She has demonstrated innovative thinking and leadership in establishing the company as a private entity.
