Nomination Title: A Leader in the Midst of Change

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated woman since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):

Following news that Bain Capital Private Equity would purchase Sealed Air’s Diversey Care division, Dr. Ilham Kadri, president of the division, was named president and CEO of Diversey on Aug. 1, 2017. Over the last year, she has been integral in preparing the cleaning and hygiene division for a spinoff.

Now, she will be responsible for establishing Diversey as a standalone business. She is the first female CEO of a leading company in the cleaning industry. The multi-billion dollar Diversey will integrate chemicals, floor care machines, tools, equipment and technology services, food safety services and water and energy management and more.

Numerous organizations recently recognized Dr. Kadri. Last December, she was named by A.O. Smith to its Board of Directors. In January, the Charlotte Business Journal named her as a key player to watch in 2017, and in March she was awarded one of the newspaper’s 2017 Women in Business Awards. In June, Dr. Kadri accepted two 2017 Women World Awards for the Women Helping Women and Female Executive of the Year categories, and was named as a new U.S. Class Member to Catalyst’s Women on Board™ initiative, which matches candidates with leading CEOs and board chairs to advance more women onto corporate boards. Additionally, she will soon be awarded a Golden Bridge Award for the Women Helping Women category.

Empowering Women

Dr. Kadri actively pushes for change for the many illiterate women in the cleaning industry. In fact, she was raised by her grandmother, an illiterate cleaner in Morocco. Dr. Kadri grew up lacking basic essentials like quality food, electricity and running water, so she understands the importance of an education. She is the founder and first Chairwoman of the Hygieia™ Network, a non-profit association dedicated to the advancement and retention of cleaning industry women.

The Network hosted its second awards ceremony in 2016 to recognize the industry women and men making a difference. In April 2017, Dr. Kadri helped the Network launch a mentoring program to facilitate and encourage professional development for its members. Additionally, the Network has just launched a book detailing inspiring success stories and tips from industry women.

Dr. Kadri’s dedication to her employees and company, combined with her concern for the industry’s frontline workers, makes her an ideal candidate for this award.
