Nomination Sub Category: Woman of the Year – Technology
Nomination Title: Kim Perell, CEO and President
Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated woman since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):
As CEO and President at Amobee, Kim Perell guides the company through a rapidly evolving industry by leading and managing Amobee’s solutions strategy and innovative technology development. In 2017, Amobee became one of the largest independent buy-side marketing technology providers globally as Kim oversaw the $310 million acquisition of Turn, a leading platform for brands and agencies.
The acquisition significantly expanded Amobee’s advanced data analytics capabilities to enable brands to better understand and reach their customers, enhance the way they engage them on a global scale, while building a strong foundation for future growth in the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
Kim is responsible for overseeing the continued investment from Singtel, Amobee’s parent company, as they embrace innovation in the digital advertising industry. Singtel is one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies with over 640 million mobile subscribers across 22 countries, across some of the fastest growing digital advertising markets globally. With the acquisition of Turn, Amobee is expected to contribute nearly one billion dollars in operating revenue for Singtel’s fiscal year ending March 31st, 2018.
Kim’s future-forward approach to digital marketing solidifies Amobee as a strategic partner to brands with the ability to dynamically create and customize the digital advertising experiences for each consumer, on every device, based upon demographic, behavioral, weather, time and location data. Under her leadership, Amobee was named an ads API partner with Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram, positioning Amobee among an elite group of global providers (1 of just 9) with access to all five major social networking platforms.
This year, Kim spearheaded the global launch of the Amobee Marketing Platform, which enables marketers to make smarter decisions, leveraging advanced data and analytics to increase efficiency and transparency across digital advertising.
Amobee’s success with Constellation Brands, a leading premium wine, beer and spirits company, was featured in the Wall Street Journal and Forbes this year discussing how Amobee’s DMP is leveraging closer to real time data to help CPG brands optimize campaigns. Many CPG companies have to wait up to 12 weeks for data vendors to send reports on how digital ads are driving purchases. Using Amobee’s (formerly Turn’s) DMP, DSP and advanced analytics, Constellation Brands was able to get data every two weeks and adjust digital campaigns in real time. As a result, the advertisements boosted sales 49% in December and 55% in January.
Amobee’s success under Kim’s leadership has widely been recognized by the industry for the company’s work with brands and agencies, and for an excellence in workplace culture. Amobee was awarded Outstanding Achievement in the Computer Hardware Rich Media category at the Internet Advertising Competition for the company’s work with Intel and OMD, recognized in the Digiday Signal Awards as Best Marketing Dashboard Software for our Brand Intelligence Platform, and named Travel and Tourism Marketing Campaign of the Year at the American Business Awards for our work with Airbnb. Amobee’s culture has also been widely recognized, including Fortune’s Great Places to Work in Illinois, the Bay Area, and the UK, as well as Best Places to Work award wins in Los Angeles, San Diego and Chicago.
