Nomination Title: Strategic Happiness and wellbeing plan in MOEI
In the framework of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure endeavor to achieve the highest levels of integration with the state's efforts to improve the quality of life and make happiness the final result, in 2018 the Ministry launched the first nationwide strategy for happiness and quality of life emanating from the National Strategy for Quality of Life 2031 and it focus on three pillars which are as follows:
1. Individuals' quality of life which covers (focus on the employees) covers (A healthy and active lifestyle, Good mental health, positive thinking and Good life skills)
2. An interconnected society which covers (Cohesive and stable families, A cohesive society, Positive environments for work and learning, A helpful and generous society and Meaningful and Positive Digital Communities)
3. A developed country which covers (A flourishing economy, An efficient and effective government, Lively cities and communities, A sustainable lifestyle that preserves national resources and A diverse, vibrant national culture)
Strategic Happiness and wellbeing plan in MOEI (Employees, customer and community):
MOEI’s leadership believes that the happier the employees and customers the higher productivities and happier communities, therefore MOEI encourage and ensure that our employees and individuals in communities has the best wellbeing initiatives, In accordance with international best practices and based on several references and inputs such as global happiness reports, reports of competitiveness, changes and future directions for the country and the ministry, the report on global trends in happiness and quality of life in the infrastructure sector, construction, roads and others within the context of periodic review and evaluation, the Ministry adopted several principles for designing the strategy, such as focusing on quality Life as a measure of sustainable and tangible progress in society, adopting a comprehensive approach to the quality of life of citizens based on interconnectedness between different sectors, clear roles and responsibilities with government agencies and the integration of roles and responsibilities between the ministry, the private sector and citizens in enhancing the quality of life. It also worked on analyzing and studying the internal and external environment (SWOT, PESTEL, STEEP) as an input in preparing the action plan and launching development initiatives, which reached (60) In 2019 and 230 in 2020covering the three pillars.
The Ministry has made innovative achievements and initiatives in terms of employee happiness and empowerment, which culminated in the achievement of two awards for “Best Health Care Program for Employees in a Work Environment” and “Balance between Work and Personal Life” within the Sustainable Mindz Awards, the leading center in the field of social responsibility and institutional sustainability in the Gulf region and the Middle East.
In light of the results of the analysis of the national questionnaire on the quality of life to measure the quality of life indicators of community members in the UAE in 2019 , an ( 230) development initiatives for the challenges identified in the report on the state of the UAE in the quality of life in the infrastructure and environment sector were drawn up, and operational plans were drawn up that include national initiatives in 2020. An integrated study to address the challenges observed in the quality of life of the axis of vital cities and societies. A study of best practices and methodology for measuring global indicators was prepared by the Emirates included in the results of global reports. In addition to benefiting from the lessons learned from best practices and transforming them into national or regional initiatives, including the launch of the Green Cities Award at the national level and the launch of the green digital geospatial platform for indicators of quality of life.
