Briefly describe this entry's communications objectives and how it met those objectives (up to 200 words):
Westpac celebrated its bicentenary on 8 April 2017 with a stunningly produced book 200: The Westpac Story that traces its development over the past two centuries. The Bank of NSW (which became Westpac) was the first bank established in Australia, and has been helping Australians for over 200 years.
The purpose of the book was to bring to life Westpac’s history of proudly supporting Australia and demonstrate its commitment to helping shape the future as it enters its third century in business.
Westpac represents a central unbroken thread that runs through Australian history. It has survived and thrived guided by the same purpose for 200 years: to provide stability, to support customers and communities, and to help grow the economy. It’s a story of entrepreneurialism, growth, resilience, overcoming setbacks and adaptation – and of individuals who had a dream, had a go, confronted challenges, dusted themselves off, and kept going.
The results have been impressive – the book has engaged, inspired and created pride in Westpac’s 40,000 employees and its customers with 37,500 hard copies ordered and 10,385 eBook views. Content from the book has featured in a video narrated by Cate Blanchett, a world-class touring exhibition
