Life-friendly business is an administration that cares and finds anxiety and discomfort that reside in the residents' daily lives. Public design techniques are being used to eliminate the inconveniences of residents in order to solve the indiscreet illegal disposal problem of the densely populated areas such as the lower part of the bridge, the retaining wall, underground sidewalks and dark and dismal crime vulnerable areas such Gangnam main street and etc. Safety wall paintings, safety art lighting, construction fence gallery project and Seoripul Cup that Seocho-gu conducts, are Seocho-gu’s representative life-friendly project that eliminate residents’ inconveniences and save the city aesthetics.
Seocho-gu has been working on the Urban Canvas project to design a new space for the residents to spend their daily lives in safety by painting bright paintings on the old and dirty retaining wall and the lower part of the pier, and lightening up the dark alleys with bright lights. The safety wall painting is a life-friendly type project that removes the safety blind spots by improving the city aesthetics by panting, and in a form of various subsets attaching, after the location selection of the residents. Through the safety wall painting project, old alley fences and retaining walls were transformed into street galleries, giving unique pleasure of walking, and by brightening the dark and faded areas, prevented crime prevention by preventing crime mindset in advance. Safety art lighting is a special light that illuminates letters and pictures on the street or dark walls, and brightens dark alleys and walls. They were installed in places that residents needed per zone, and the anxiety of pedestrians was resolved by switching the atmosphere of the dark alleys and under the bridge.
The construction area temporary enclosure fence gallery project displayed art works made by residents on the fence of the construction site and changed the fence that had been desolate into art works in the city. 2017. May, 'Imagination in the City: National Construction Area Temporary Enclosure Fence Imagination Design Contest' was held and a total of 77 works were exhibited nationwide, and the winners were selected after the first and second examinations. The award winning works were digitized so that they could be used immediately by the construction company, and the design manual book was produced and published to present the design guideline containing the Seocho identity. Beginning with the curtain wall of the Tony Moly Yangjae building site in Seocho-dong, it was applied to the entire construction site, transforming the environment around the construction site into a comfortable space.
Seoripul Cup is a coffee cup shaped recycling bin installed around the subway station areas, sub stops and such places with floating population. It is a coffee-shaped unique designed public facility, created to catch the people’s eyes, to encourage recycling in order to solve the problems regarding urban aesthetics such as illegal disposal of trashes like riding bus after illegally disposing the coffee they were drinking, waiting for the bus, and the other caused by the disposal. In 2017, due to the voluntary recycling the resource recycling rate was increased, saved the budget for illegal disposal regulation and administration, contributed to the protection of the natural environment through a virtuous cycle of resources.
