With the recent social concern about disaster preparedness and resilience in the country, heidentified microinsurance among its existing products as an effective tool that is yet to be maximized in addressing this problem. Because of its simplicity and affordability, microinsurance is deemed to be the best tool that could provide necessary assistance for the poor to rise-up or rebuild their lives post disasters. Thus, with his leadership, Cebuana Lhuillier works towards increasing the number of micro insurance coverage among Filipinos, in order to help them prepare against disasters.

To successfully carry out this mission, a nationwide awareness campaign was a started. The campaign kicked off with a forum that aimed to emphasize the importance of preparedness and front microinsurance as the best way on how Filipinos can rebuild their lives after calamities.

Mr. Lhuillier then spearheaded the cascade of the learnings from the forum to the rest of the Philippines through a series of road shows for the discussion to reach far-flung communities.

It also informs the users about Cebuana Lhuillier’s various insurance products and services which they can also purchase immediately online through the app.

Furthermore, Mr. Lhuillier initiated yet another trailblazing program, the Claims Rapid Action in a Disaster-Stricken Area Operations (RAPIDO), which allows microinsurance clients to process and receive their claims immediately through a group of Cebuana Lhuillier agents who put up a microinsurance booth in the place where a disaster had just happened or is happening.

His leadership is also pivotal for the launch of the National Pilipino Protektado Day (NPPD) project which provided free microinsurance policies to one million Filipinos. For one month, Cebuana Lhuillier tapped various institutions nationwide that cater to the most vulnerable individuals and communities and started NPPD pocket events at various locations to give out free microinsurance coverage. The recipients included 4Ps beneficiaries, emergency first responders, persons with disabilities, elderly people, public school teachers and non-teaching staff, farmers, fishermen, TODA members, drivers of public utility vehicles, public high school students, residents of flood-prone barangays and typhoon-stricken areas.
