As a quasi-government authority, KoROAD endeavors to reduce and prevent traffic accidents through fair driver’s license management, training, promotion, research and broadcasting related to traffic safety and preparation of a pleasant road traffic environment as the leader of the advanced traffic culture and the hub of Korean road traffic.

KoROAD has been expanding its roles and presenting a variety of visions for quickly coping with the needs of the 4th Industrial Revolution Age. In particular, KoROAD will successfully develop a ‘Smart Traffic Sign Operation System’ by 2020 as the leading research institute for system development. KoROAD has been endeavoring to completely commercialize self-driving cars by preparing the ‘Stepwise Driver’s License Acquisition Procedure’ depending on the technology development status for self-driving cars as well as to present a definite basis in the legal and institutional aspects for establishing the Korean self-driving license standards.

KoROAD takes the initiative for practicing social responsibility management as evidenced by winning the Grand Prize in ‘2016 Korea Economy Leader Awards, the Prize of the Minister of Planning and Finance in the 2016 Happier Social Contribution Awards, the Gold Prize in Non-Profit Organization or Government Innovation Management Category, the ‘2016 Asia Pacific Stevie Awards, the Grand Prize in the Win-Win Management Category, 2016 Korea’s Most Influential CEOs, and Gold Prize in Business and Organization Field for the Business of the Year and Bronze Prize in Non-Profit Organization and Government Organization Field and Customer Service Field in 2017 International Business Awards.

KoROAD has played pivotal roles for the development of traffic safety in Wonju-si, since its movement to Wonju Innovation City in Nov. 2015. KoROAD has been implementing a variety of projects to create the area where it is located as a Traffic Safety City. KoROAD has been activating its business for cooperation and support including campaigns and technology supports related to traffic as well as establishing a preliminary approach to improve traffic facilities and traffic action through a business agreement with the Wonju Municipal Government and Wonju Police Agency as it pursues the idea of ‘Wonju, the safest traffic city’.

Furthermore, in connection with the mission of KoROAD ‘For the World where the public is safe and happy from road traffic accidents’, KoROAD holds the ‘Zero Traffic Accident Campaign for School Zone’ for inducing the social interest on traffic safety of children and enhances the meaning of the campaign by showing the children walking in safe environment. Moreover, KoROAD implements the ‘Unity Contest for Reduction of Traffic Accident’. The contest contributes on reducing traffic accidents by awarding traffic organizations, men of merit and drivers without accidents which make a commitment for traffic accident on roads and ultimately settling down the ‘people first’ traffic culture to reduce and prevent traffic accidents.

In addition, KoROAD implements the social contribution activities supporting the vulnerable to secure social competitiveness and be financially independent by supporting them to get the driver’s license. In addition, KoROAD fulfills its social responsibility by helping multi-cultural families and migrant women to take the written examination for driver’s license, providing administrative support and opening the driver’s license centre for the severely disabled. KoROAD identifies key capabilities per project including safety related to social issues and purposes of its establishment by strategically planning social contribution activities using its business characteristics and specialized capabilities and sets up social contribution projects per capability.

KoROAD devotes itself to making a safe city without traffic accidents and never stops endeavors to be the traffic safety guard, taking the initiative for traffic safety and facilitating traffic flow with pride and confidence in protecting the life of the public.
