When you think of family business, you tend to think small. Not the family behind Jeunesse. When husband and wife Randy Ray (CEO) and Wendy Lewis (COO) emerged from retirement to in 2009 to collaborate with Wendy’s son, Scott Lewis (Chief Visionary Officer) to create Jeunesse, the goal all along was to build a global billion-dollar brand.
Randy Ray grewup in such deep poverty that he at times didn’t own shoes and ate mud pies to stave off hunger pains. Despite this impoverished youth, Randy held a strong belief that he was destined for success. This belief helped him break free from poverty to attend college and later design a computer system used to launch NASA space shuttles.
Wendy Lewis started down the entrepreneurial path at age 8when she launched a summer camp from her parents’ back patio, charging neighborhood kids to make arts and crafts projects and participate in lawn games. Later in life, as a single mother who started her career as a math teacher, Wendy leveraged her math skills — really, she’s a genuine math whiz — to create two Inc. 500 companies.
Growing up the son of a serial entrepreneur, Scott was sure to learn a thing or two from his successful mom. However, it’s his visionary leadership and out-of-the-box thinking that has contributed so generously to the success of Jeunesse.
The three make a multi-award-winning and highly effective team with a diverse array of talent and experience. In just six short years, Jeunesse catapulted from a small family business to a billion-dollar brand with a presence on six continents across the globe.
In the two years since, Jeunesse has built on this success, maintaining billion-dollar sales for the third consecutive year.
Today, Jeunesse ranks among the top 20 companies in the Global 100 at No. 18, and was chosen as DSN’s 2017 BRAVO Growth Award recipient, having increased its annual sales to more than $1 billion in a two-year period (2014 — 2016). Jeunesse also earned a second consecutive nod for Fastest Growing Company of the Year.
With this sustained growth, Wendy has shifted her attention in 2017 to overseeing the empowerment of established markets and Distributors. Scott navigated Jeunesse through market expansion – the company debuted in India – as well as brand expansion. Meanwhile, Randy has lead the company through its third year of billion-dollar annual sales, while all three have prioritized the company’s legacy of giving back.
Under Scott’s direction, Jeunesse embarked on the historic EXPO8 Elevate 2017 World Tour with an unprecedented five international stops to meet, greet and empower its Distributors. The tour drew 50,000 attendees who raised more than $900,000 for local charities in Macau, Bangkok, Milan, São Paulo and Orlando.
All told, the Jeunesse nonprofit foundation Jeunesse Kids™raised a cumulative $1.58 million across six continents in 2017 to help children in need.
The management team directed the introduction two new product lines and three individual products across 25 countries in 2017, entering the cosmetics market in February with the NV®line of micro-mist foundations. NV earned a Best New Product honor and a product innovation award among its 10 total awards. The hair-care line Jeunesse Spa™launched in Brazil, a top beauty market, while the popular Luminesce®skin care line added the luxurious Luminesce HydraShield Mask™. Jeunesse also brought several existing products to market in 20 additional markets.
With an eye on connecting its brand with customers worldwide, Jeunesse entered into more than half a dozen official international sponsorships — reaching millions through popular live and televised events.
