Briefly describe this entry's communications objectives and how it met those objectives (up to 200 words):
The annual report is IFC’s key instrument of branding and storytelling. Each year, the report strives to highlight IFC's value proposition in a memorable way. 2016 marked IFC’s 60th anniversary as a global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. Our annual report, Experience Matters, highlighted the importance of that experience to address the emerging challenges of economic development—including the need to tackle climate change and accelerate growth in the poorest and most strife-torn areas of the world. The cover featured an innovative die-cut design to represent the idea of looking back to see ahead. The inside pages—featuring vivid colors, powerful photographs, and stories of people who benefited directly from our work—were designed to highlight the global scale and impact of our effort to create opportunity and improve lives. The result was a visually stunning articulation of our view that the private sector is essential for economic development—and that IFC’s six decades of experience in this area helps ensure that the world’s most vulnerable people benefit.
