As of today, Freelancer.com is the world’s largest freelancing, crowdsourcing by total number of users and projects posted. More than 23 million registered users have posted over 11 million projects and contests to date in 950 areas as diverse as website development, logo design, marketing, and aerospace engineering. We aim to empower entrepreneurs, small businesses, and startups by connecting them with our global network of skilled workers. Every user on the platform, whether freelancer or employer, benefits from the site by either earning money or getting work done that otherwise would have been too expensive or difficult to do. It is essential for us to be able to reach out to our current and prospective audiences and community directly. By targeting them online (e.g. through email marketing, online advertising and marketing campaigns, Online Customer Support System, Social Media) or offline (via conferences, events, awards and other activities worldwide, organised and run by our company or externally). Larger campaigns dedicated to our user base have been 'Expose Our Logo', 'Best Profile Contest', Scavenger Hunt and 'Freelancer Changing Lives' initiatives, where several monetary prizes were awarded directly to the users, with substantial support in the media.

For the last year and a half, Freelancer.com has partnered with NASA Tournament Lab. Freelancer.com´s users from all over the world have been participating in a series of crowdsourcing contests to solve complex problems faced by Astronauts on the cutting edge of space exploration. Media response for the NASA partnership had been extraordinary, with over 470 media hits worldwide, which essentially garnered 'free publicity' for the company.

The wide variety of Freelancer’s services and activities provide many opportunities for the company to feature in the media, both niche and mainstream mass publications. Freelancer’s Communications team, across 7 regions worldwide (Sydney, Manila, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Vancouver, Jakarta and London) have consistently generated an average of 3.8 media coverage a day (or more on average) for a total of over 1400 media hits. We have been partners of the Colombian Government in the communication, implementation and support of the "Plan Vive Digital" (Live Digital Plan) in Colombia for the last 3 years. Sebastian Siseles, Director of International at Freelancer.com has been invited several times to Colombia as international speaker at different events in Bogota, Cali and Medellin. Siseles was also invited to keynote a Ted Talk in Colombia, called “A second chance”, where he talked about how colombian convicts can choose the freelancing life in order to create a new life for themselves.

The goal of this strategic alliance is to assist the Colombian government in creating a framework of cooperation to push forward the telework and freelance work in Colombia as an instrument to increase business productivity, generate sustainable mobility, foment organizational innovation of the various entities, improve the quality of life of the employees and promote the effective use of information and communication technologies.

In South-east Asia, we have been working closely with the Philippine and Malaysian governments in assisting underprivileged communities, especially from rural areas. Freelancer.com has partnered with the Department of Science and Technology - Information and Communications Technology office for its Rural Impact Sourcing initiative, which aims to educate professionals from rural areas. The Malaysian government, through the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), has tapped Freelancer.com for its Microsourcing to Generate Additional Income for the Low Income Household Project.

For all of our the effort and hard work the Communications team puts into spreading our message they have been awarded with a Golden Stevie for Communications Team of the Year in the International Business Award for 2 years in a row (2015 - 2015), as well as a Golden Stevie for PR Executive of the Year in the International Business Award in 2016.
