Barbara Morgan joined FIS at the end of 2016, setting her up to hit the ground running in January 2017 as the SVP of Development for the FIS Payments division. She has been continually demonstrating her ability to make staggering cultural and technological advances to what was already looked at as an iconic leader in the Payments industry. She aggressively recreated the FIS Payments technology brand into one that is both innovative and thought-provoking. Through Barbara’s leadership, FIS is focused on leading with next-generation cloud-based technological architectural strategies, while capitalizing on the proprietary industry-leading product set FIS has been known to deliver.
Barbara has been pivotal in leading the brand’s Payments, Merchant Processing and most recently leading the strategy and delivery of the simplification for the foundational next-generation platforms. She has done this by attracting and infusing new top leadership talent acquired by top technology companies, while mixing programs focused on the upskilling of existing internal talent. Her keen understanding of products to business value, while keeping a laser focus on driving revenue generating ideas has led to improved margins and created a flexible and sustainable growth model. Barbara recognized the importance of integrating specialized vendors as a key strategy to their overall technology delivery and has created key partnerships in this space.
Most recently Barbara has been promoted to the role of Chief Development Officer for FIS’ IFS division in her first 15 months with FIS. In this role, Barbara:
- Directly leads over 1200+ technologists across the United States, India, Japan and Europe - supporting over $2 billion dollars in key business organizations providing products worldwide.
- She has restructured the technology organization to align with all business partners from operations to the enterprise product office through the adoption of agile.
- Introduced new roles on her team: user experience specialist, traditional agile roles, data scientist and customer experience development advocates.
- Rolled out 150+ agile teams within her first year with FIS.
- She matured the agile journey to include the SAFe framework to further align with the business strategies and has increased productivity by over 40%.

Barbara is known as a leader that proves her passion for technology, innovative products and people in everything she does. She has created a culture that puts diversity at the forefront and this shows in her beliefs towards talent appreciation. Barbara has created multiple programs including Women in Technology and serves as the Women of Wisconsin executive sponsor. Barbara also believes in giving back to the community by serving on the Milwaukee School of Engineering corporate board, as an international mentor via LinkedIn, has spoken at 10+ engagements over the past year and is leading FIS to shift their strategies to give back in the open space community.
Barbara is a continual learner by nature and in creating a learning environment, FIS has seen products blossom that provides synergies to the client and user experiences, ensuring a seamless technological integration layer, while aligning to the financial goals for FIS. Barbara has pushed for an automation mindset, integrating machine learning, and most recently promoting a development model allowing for quicker speed to market, while ensuring the safety of FIS’ client’s data and integrity.
