In 2016, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG far exceeded its 2015 record. The Stuttgart-based sportscar manufacturer delivered a total of 237,778 vehicles around the world, some 6 per cent more than the previous record. The key drivers of growth were Europe, the USA and China.

Strong product range has enabled Porsche to once again exceed the previous year.

The Macan and the new 718 Boxster had a particularly positive effect on the result. One Highlight in 2016 was certainly the presentation of our new Porsche Panamera which reconciles two contrasting characteristics more than ever before: the performance of a genuine sports car and the comfort of a luxury saloon. It is a Gran Turismo that has been rethought and realigned.

2017 will see the launch of the completely redeveloped second generation of the Panamera in the USA and China. The shooting-brake version – the Panamera Sport Turismo – will celebrate its world premiere in March at the Geneva Motor Show. The second generation of the Panamera is advancing to become a performance icon of the luxury class.

Globally networked, after the opening of a new headquarters in Atlanta, Porsche opened a new Experience Center in Los Angeles where customers and fans can experience the Porsche brand up close and personal. Porsche plans to open the Porsche Experience Center in Shanghai in 2017.

Shaping the future of the sportscar is the theme of Strategy 2025, where electromobility, digitalisation and connectivity will play an important role.

The first all-electric sports car, Mission E, is taking Porsche into the future as an employer brand as well. The company will hire more than 1,400 new employees in the Stuttgart region to work on the development and production of the first all-electric sports car from Porsche.

BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche signed a MOU to create the highest-powered charging network in Europe to enable long-range travel for battery electric vehicle drivers.

Moving into the fast lane on the topic of digitization, the Supervisory Board approved the founding of Porsche Digital GmbH to further develop Porsche into the leading provider of digital mobility solutions in the premium automotive segment. Months later Porsche opened the Porsche Digital Lab in Berlin, which will be used to identify and test innovative information technology solutions. The lab establishes a platform for collaboration with technology companies, start-ups, and firms working in the sciences.

Also in 2016, Porsche has won the WEC. At the six-hour race in Bahrain the Porsche trio of Romain Dumas (FR), Neel Jani (CH) and Marc Lieb (DE) secured the drivers’ title in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The 2016 Le Mans winners finished sixth in the final round of the WEC. In the 2016 season, Dumas/Jani/Lieb have taken race wins in Silverstone and Le Mans.

Porsche is the latest manufacturer to enjoy a record-setting year of sales far exceeding the previous year and is on track to achieve the same in 2017.
