Over the past year, Webroot has seen widespread adoption of its cybersecurity solutions by managed service providers (MSPs), continued demand from partners to embed Webroot threat intelligence in their solutions, and consumer product sales that far outstrip the overall consumer security market.
As a business, Webroot’s customer base continues to expand at extremely strong rates. In a consumer endpoint security market that shrank -8 percent last year according to Gartner, Webroot grew 13 percent year over year in FY16, and is once again the No. 1 market share leader in North American retail. Webroot protects over 13 million customer endpoints with Webroot SecureAnywhere, and leads the market with a Net Promoter Score of 59 percent. In the business segment, Webroot grew 45 percent year over year for FY17 and now protects over 120,000 businesses, including 6,900 managed service providers. MSPs find Webroot SecureAnywhere to be the ideal endpoint protection solution for their customers because of its outstanding efficacy against advanced malware and phishing attacks, its extraordinarily rapid deployment, and its powerful, fully cloud-based management. Unlike many startups, the company is both growing and profitable.
With a growing customer base, it is important for Webroot to uphold excellence when it comes to customer service. Webroot has a highly skilled and globally based Technical Support team, offering 24/7 support around the world. The team supports 62 languages when replying through a ticketing system. The average wait time on the phones is only 52 seconds, and the response time for support tickets is 55 percent within an hour and 79 percent within six hours. Webroot holds the industry’s highest Net Promoter Score at 82.31 percent and continuously achieves a customer satisfaction rate of 96 percent.
Webroot also partnered with various companies to create more secure services for the channel. For instance, Webroot partnered with NinjaMSP and Atera to deliver smarter endpoint management for MSPs. Cloud Harmonics and Webroot also joined together to empower the channel with next-generation threat intelligence. In addition, Webroot and Citrix partnered together to enhance scalability and security for enterprise customers. By joining together with other channel partners, Webroot built out its network as well as security prowess.
In September, Webroot acquired San Diego-based CyberFlow Analytics, an innovator in applying data science to network anomaly detection. The addition of CyberFlow enhances Webroot’s ability to address the explosion of internet-connected devices and increasingly complex threat landscape. Adding the FlowScape network behavioral analytics solution extends Webroot’s leadership in machine learning-based cybersecurity to the network layer. As malware is now overwhelmingly polymorphic and advanced persistent threats (APTs) mask their activities within everyday network noise, SaaS-based FlowScape adversarial analytics and unsupervised machine learning enables Webroot to further reduce time to classify and address threats. According to CEO Dick Williams, “Webroot’s machine learning platform powers the most cutting-edge endpoint protection, threat intelligence services, and now network analytics, enabling us to stay ahead of evolving threats for our customers.”
Webroot also differentiated itself from the rest of the competition as the company continued to extend its cybersecurity thought leadership through a series of data reports, consumer surveys, and speaking sessions at key cybersecurity conferences this year. With the most recent quarterly threat update, Webroot uncovered users are over 20 percent less likely to encounter malware and other undesirable executable files than in 2015. In addition, Webroot conducted a survey before the summer travel season, which revealed while 95 percent of baby boomers and 85 percent of millennials in the U.S. are concerned with their personal online security, baby boomers are taking more steps to secure their mobile devices. Webroot also made its presence known through speaking sessions and sponsorships at Automation Nation, Black Hat USA 2016, DattoCon, ITNation, Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit, Navigate 2016 by Continuum and RSA Conference 2016.
