As the Midwest’s leader in recycling and waste diversion services, Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) believes in maintaining a company culture that embodies employee growth, retention, innovation, collaboration and safety. Through HR initiatives, LRS employs top-talent across all seven LRS facilities. To that end, LRS understands that orientation is extremely valuable to support the initial hire.

Launched on February 1, 2017, LRS’ orientation video introduces new hires to not just the organization and its operations, but the organization’s mission and values- making each employee understand they are part of the LRS family and motivated to make an impact from day one.

In this video, CEO Alan Handley speaks directly to the viewers and shares his vision for the company and its future development. Because LRS offers an array of system-wide services with several service markets, the orientation video showcases various roles within the company and how each role is valued and makes a significant impact to not just the customers, but the environment.

Since the release of the orientation video, LRS uses this on each employee’s first day, complementary to its existing orientation program. Since February 1, nearly 100 new hires have viewed LRS’ orientation video with a 98% retention rate.
