Nomination Title: Innovid: Bringing Better Technology Into Storytelling
Tell the story about what this nominated organization has achieved since January 1, 2016 (up to 650 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms.
As the world’s leading video marketing platform, Innovid empowers advertisers to engage consumers across all devices and channels through video ad delivery and by providing a holistic, cross-device, data-driven strategy for video to meet the demands of an increasingly fragmented audience. Innovid’s patented technology and advanced measurement capabilities allow marketers to thrive in an ever-changing digital television landscape and engage viewers at scale via richly personalized creative and interactive storytelling.
Innovid began nearly ten years ago with the mission to bring better technology into storytelling. In the past twelve months, the company has made great strides in achieving that mission through new technological innovations as well as strategic partnerships.
In 2016, Innovid developed revolutionary technology that allows brands to personalize their video ads for consumers based on first-party and third-party data, providing powerful one-to-one marketing. After partnering with leading marketing cloud platforms Adobe, IBM, and Oracle, Innovid quickly launched its Marketing Cloud Suite, a unique product that allows brands to include video throughout the customer journey for the very first time.
Innovid’s Marketing Cloud Suite breaks the silos between video and other marketing channels by using data from other marketing channels such as web, email, search, display, social, mobile, and commerce to drive more consumer engagement with richly personalized and relevant video ads. In short, Innovid makes more effective video marketing possible in more ways than one.
As pioneers in the connected TV and over-the-top (OTT) space, Innovid also recently launched the first-ever interactive ads in the U.K. on Channel 4's Roku app. Channel 4 viewers are now able to choose between different ad creatives, watch additional content, or click-to-buy the products being advertised, further enhancing their experience with the brand.
Innovid also collaborated with Facebook’s Atlas People-Based Measurement, serving as its technology partner to deliver video advertising. The partnership allows multi-screen support with HTML5 ads that work across mobile and desktop, giving users the ability to easily stream dynamic and social content like Facebook, Twitter posts, and videos. The integration also allows for comprehensive reporting and deep engagement metrics.
Innovid partnered with IPG Mediabrands, the global media holding arm of Interpublic Group, and developed new products to manage the agency’s global OTT advanced video delivery. To start, Innovid created interactive TV-to-mobile (TV2M) technology that allows the viewer to input a mobile number using the remote control to receive additional content such as digital coupons.
As the advertising industry continues to evolve and issues such as brand safety become top-of-mind to advertisers, Innovid is committed to providing comprehensive analytics and full transparency so brands can assess the true value of their ad buys. To that end, Innovid began measuring the engagement of Snapchat viewers to help brands assess the effectiveness of their Snapchat ads. Similarly, Innovid partnered with Twitter to give viewability statistics and metrics to inform advertisers about who is watching their ads.
Rounding out the year, Innovid was presented with several prestigious industry awards including “Best Video Ad Tech Innovation” in the Digiday Video Awards for an interactive, OTT campaign created for Volvo in conjunction with GroupM’s MODI Media. The success of the interactive campaign was incredible, yielding 77 seconds of additional time earned and a 94.5% completion rate. The campaign also drove viewers to sign up with their mobile devices to stay informed about the new Volvo XC90.
