With the hybrid cloud market estimated to grow to $91.74 billion by 2021, Avere FXT Edge filer technology is critical to enabling enterprises to easily integrate applications requiring file systems into the public cloud. The latest FXT Edge filer model, the FXT 5850, consists of four configurations designed to meet the needs of enterprise architectures and high-performance environments including demanding financial simulations, genomic analysis and media rendering, to accelerate the efficiency of their file-based applications and lower cost of data storage. The FXT 5850 delivers double the performance, capacity and network bandwidth for the most challenging, data-intensive workloads over previous models.
Designed for high data-growth industries like financial services, media and entertainment, life sciences and government, the new FXT 5850 enables customers to speed time to market, produce higher quality output, and modernize the IT infrastructure with both cloud and advanced networking technologies. Customers are able to more than double performance with improvement from 4 gigabytes per second (GB/s) to 9 GB/s aggregate read throughput; double the capacity with twice as much DRAM and SSD as previous generations of the FXT; and achieve two and a half times higher network bandwidth with an increase from four 10 gigabit ethernet (GbE) ports to four 25 GbE ports.
In addition to enhancing financial, genomic and rendering workflows, the FXT accelerates high tech product development at the world’s largest software and hardware companies, scales seismic processing and reservoir modeling at major oil and gas companies, and serves national treasures from the world’s largest digital assets library. The University of Warsaw Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modeling selected Avere FXT Edge filers to deliver petabyte-scale storage for private cloud and to simplify access and data durability required for cloud-scale environments for its big data research center project, OCEAN.
